Truck Seatbelt Law Signed

safety should be a choice. this is not about dead people its about MONEY! don't you think people would be more likely to wear it if they faced a 4 hour free driving seminar on the dangers when they got cough without it?
i am very glad after trying for 3 years i got a medical exemption. keep your laws off my body. also don't think suicide jockeys should have to wear one, but don't be all pouty when they hit a curb and die. next law? no jumping from planes. no bungee jumping. no free climbing. no white water rafting. no mountain biking. all new laws will be enforced by a fine of no less then $500 if cough enjoying yourself.

America has become a bunch of crooked, fascist pigs.

seat belt laws are a secondary offense anyway. They will only cite you if they pull you over for something else first.

I support the helmet law, the seat belt law, and the cell phone law. Set belt extenders? Seriously? Good Lord.....

A friend of mine said he noticed the red light cameras flash when he went through on a green, Being curious he went around the block and went through on the green, Again the flash. About a month later he got 2 tickets for no seat belt.:marchmellow:

It's all about control and money making for State/local governments and there special interest groups....I have always, since day 1 worn my seat belt and require everyone that rides with me to buckle up. South Carolina would have never approved the seat belt law if the Fed had not threatened them by taking away funding..They also claimed that you could not be ticketed for a seat belt violation unless you were pulled over for some other infraction..BS on that!
Speeding is also against the law and enforced.... What about going to slow and obstructing the flow of traffic,,there is a law against that ( not enforced). Federal Stats stated (the last time I checked) that there are more accidents caused by drivers obstructing the flow of traffic than accidents by speeders...And what the F is this mail them a ticket crap....Va. my 95 year old Grandmother received a ticket in the mail for driving in a HOV lane 100 miles from her home....Shit, She DID NOT and could not even drive. Someone called in a wrong tag number for the HOV violation they saw??? Guess she should have gone to Fairfax ,Va from Richmond to fight it BS.. with 15 years of dimentia ,, She would have won I'M SURE. Government should be controlled not the people...

They are multi-tasking cameras...

I am all for being safe. But who determines what is "safe" ?
Maybe I believe that vehicles are unsafe period and should be banned ?
Where does it stop ? I love riding my motorcycle in South Carolina because they don't require helmets . It is my life and should be my choice. After all,how can you argue that motorcycles are safe at all compared to cars ?

I am so sick of the "nanny-state" mentality that most have these days.Even people that I would think should know better are falling into the socialist way of thinking. This is America.A land of freedom,or it was.Now it is the land of the rules, the laws, the regulations. All supposedly for our own good.:(

Not for me.I will think and decide for myself. And for the EMT/LEO that might possibly have to work my accident scene,if you don't want to see it,let it lay.Buzzards gotta eat same as worms.:p

I have heard the statement before that they have seen such horrible things and are therefore in favor of seatbelt laws .While I hate that you have to see such sights, you knew going in what it would be like. What about a garbage collector trying to get laws passed to contain the awful odor of garbage ? That is just how silly I find that argument.

I heard last week that it would be impossible to read all the laws and codes that we now have on the books even if you did it full time for the rest of your life.Just further proof of a government grown too large.

Some points made here are very intelligent points, but some of you don't even realize what you are saying. Maybe it's b/c you didn't read all the points made here, and you decide to join in and make these "major points" but those points were shut down pages ago. I was taught to read it all or listen constructively b/ making a quick statement b/c the intelligence you shout out to make one person lesson could also make a entire room laugh. Thanks for the discussion group. :congrats: :congrats: CLASS DISMISSED!

I read about that on snopes.com. There are no seat-belt cameras in Cali that I know of. I guess if you REALLY don't want to wear a seat-belt, you can get away with it if you wear some clever outfit that looks like a seat-belt.

There is a company marketing this camera, but I'm not sure where of if they are used anywhere.

When the actions of some adversely impact others, laws need to exist to inhibit irresponsible acts. The concept of less laws is philosophically appealing, but becoming less and less applicable in what has become a very complex and interdependent society.

Lets just focus on automobile accidents for a moment. If you do not have insurance, if you do something irresponsible, and the only outcome is that you are injured or killed...maybe the laws don't need to exist. But very few are in that boat. Most of us understand that what happens to us impacts others. If you need services due to your irresponsible act (emt/fire fighter/police/clean up people/curb repair/sign repair/auto repair...all of those things have expenses attached to them. If you die in the accident who is responsible...who picks up the tab? The answer is the rest of us. Hence the desire from most thinking people for the construction of laws to inhibit acts that raise the cost of irresponsible action.

If you live in isolation and your actions in no way impact others, then laws are not needed...very few of you live like that. I realized at one point in my life how critical my personal conduct was to a large number of people. We had a company picnic, a good portion of 450 employees and their families...as CEO the realization of the consequence of my actions became abundantly clear and very sobering. We have to think beyond our own nose, and elbow...the consequences of all of our actions have far reaching consequences in many ways...you can try to lessen that reach...but most of you will find after some contemplation, that personal accountability for our actions is the most practical way to lessen the confining actions of laws.

not in NY it is not. they stand at toll booths and write a seat belt ticket in 2 min using the new faster tax writing system. scan your license, print the ticket, charge the tax.
