Truck won't start

It's my damn Dakota again.....
Turned the key and nothing but a quick click sound...
The dash lights, dome lights all come on bright..No head lights and wipers barley moved 2 inches then stopped...
I Cleaned the battery connections...Tried to start ,,, Nothing again..
Before I replace the battery I want to be sure...
I pushed the truck and poped the clutch ---Varooom started..
The brake light and the ABS light are stuck on now???? ----About a mile down the road the check guages light comes on????.. I look and the amp guages is pegging the needle???? Stop at a light and the amp gauge returns to normal and stays normal??? Finally got home turned it off. Tried to start again and nothing???? Any ideas to what the problem would be?????

dead battery. alternator is working if it runs ok once it's started. try a jump start to be sure.

It ran fine when I pushed and dumped the clutch... I got it home and will try to jump start with cables next..... Why are all the dash lights on and why would it peg the needle on the amp guage???...:dontknow:

sounds like a dead cell battery, probably won't jump start from another vehicle...... pull it & have it tested & a parts store to be sure.

Or a bad ground somewhere, Sears stores have a battery cycler that Really checks the battery, have it checked before buying a new one. it's free to have checked, just take the battery in.

Dude - go out and make sure that someone didn't do a "L" swap on it. That could be your problem right there.

He didnt say it was fast all of a sudden, I would rule that one out!

Went as fast as I could to check for the L swap Thank god It was ok...You had me skeered for a moment. Those L guys will go to any length

But it is fast all of a sudden, now that it won't start ---At least faster than an L

Jump started almost immediatly ---Guess it's time to take it in for testing ---Thanks for the help:rock: :rock: :rock: QC to the parts store ---it really is more than a Grocery getter
