Truck Wouldnt Start...

I have had this happen twice now in the last 30 days.....started the truck to pull it out of the garage to clean on it....engine was cold and I just had it running just enough time to pull out of the garage..5 seconds maybe....

After I finished I went to start it and it just turned over like it was not getting any spark and/or fuel....I looked around under the hood (like I knew what I was looking for) and tried to start it again without luck...I decided to reflash the PCM with my SCT...truck starts right up.......same scenerio has happed twice......anybody else experience this?:dontknow:
 
I wonder if the battery is dying in your key/remote . . . ? Would this prevent communication with the PCM (transponder)??

I guess that is possible...but this has only happen when the motor was started cold and turned off within a few seconds...and why would reflashing my tune help?

Hmmm . . . Could be that by letting it run for only a few seconds doesn't give your PCM time to "re-learn" timing tables and fuel trims. I know on GM's they're constantly relearning things. Cammed LS1's are/were famous for "re-learning" an idle RPM at every start-up. If you'll ever notice, they seem to stumble for a minute then they soon find the idle RPM.

I know that's like comparing apples to oranges - but it could be a place to start.

My suggestion, LET THE DAMN THING RUN FOR MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS!!! :p :p :p :D :D :D

I remember Hee Haw!!!! :mad: :p :D (I was born/raised in north Georgia!!!) The cable company didn't run cable television my parent's address until I was in middle school . . . :eek: :D

I can't offer a solution but I can help eliminate things. The transponder is in the key itself. Not in the remote. It isn't even powered. It's sorta like the mag strip on the back of your credit card except it just needs to be in the vicinity of the ignition switch and be recognized by the security system.

Even with a key that hasn't been programmed to be recognized the truck will start and run for about 5-10 seconds then die. So that's not your problem.

And yes, I remember Hee Haw too. Roy Clark, Buck Owens, Grandpaw and all the scantily clothed hotties.

Thanks for the imput............. "and all the scantily clothed hotties"...I was a teenager when Hee Haw came out...I sure didnt watch it for the jokes..;)
 
Mine would not start this morning...it was cold.

Jumped into the Volvo to get to school...figured it out on the way...tested my theory when I got home...I was correct.

Put the key in, depressed the clutch and hit the button...nothing...

Solution...after a little thought...next time remember to turn the key!!!!

This getting old shit is really painful. Anyone wonder why I am a 14 second boosted truck?

did you get the VEC wet, if so just wait for it to dry out
 
always wrap the VEC in plastic wrap when washing your vehicle
 
I don't think he has a VEC. He might. :dontknow:He was talking about reflashing with his SCT. But that does bring up the idea of making sure all the plugs are in tight on you stock computer.

LOL....yeah I turned the key..because I had thought about that when I looked under the hood..
