Ok so what i have so far is in my sig.....I want to run in the 12's or better all motor.....Cam's and heads are out of the picture for right now also.....So what else can i do to achieve my goal.....The only mods I know i'm going to ger forsure sofare are caltracs, Eagle Alloy 0589 17's with 390/40 M&H (those are what iv'e seen recommended by everyone),stock cyro gears and a K&N drop in.

What i'm considering are QA1 shocks from JMB ,but do i really need front and rear? Should'nt the rear be all I need for good weight transfer? How will those shocks ride on the street? Would the ride be better, worse or the same? I want headers but i think i only want the B&B's since all the sound clips i heard from the other setups sounds too much like a ricer for me...Where can the B&B's be bought from? Whats a price on the full exahust?
Would the E-fan from JMB be worth the $700?

This is pretty much all I know of besides spending crazy coin for F/I or head/cams route.....What else can I do to run faster while being a DD? :dontknow:

I have until oct before I return from Afghan and I want an idea of what I need so I can start looking now and have all the parts by the time i get back:rock:

so no heads - no cam, no motor work ? but you wanna stay on motor ?

you can hit high 12's out the box with caltracs and DR's or Slicks and a shifter, and a GOOD tune !!!! but that is says you can drive

other then that - with your limits i cant see it happening

cheapest way -

DR's - caltracs - shifter - SCT - NOS 100-150 shot

better way -

dont be in a hurry

and build you motor with all the go fast parts

headers, cat delete, cam, heads, TB ect...

good luck

o crap, ok then no need for a shifter but still you will need the other stuff lol

hey thanks for pointing that out SANTEEN ! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

slicks ,Tuner, Cats removed from exhaust, Maybe a BBK throttle body and call it good

Agreed. But, to be for sure in the 12's, probably a torque convertor too.

You are going to be hard pressed to see 12s in a QC with all of the bolt on mods mentioned including open (catless) exhaust......maybe if the air is good (low or negative DA), track is prepped well and you can launch well...............I am not an advocate of NOS but if you want solid 12s and are on a budget it is the about the cheapest HP you can buy.............and removing weight (spare, tailgate, bed cover, etc) is ultra cheap HP...every 100LBs is equal to approx 10HP..;)

Well i have the BBK throttle body already, forgot to add that i will be getting a catless midpipe before i get back! I plan on removing the spare and tailgate for the track...what else are you guys doing for track prep? .dont have a bed cover so im good with that one. I really want to get the tranny built also but i'll have to save up a little for that one.....What size stall TC are yall QC guys running and how much are they?...I would love to get a TC...I plan on installing all these mods myself so not worried about labor...

I want to run as fast as i can with more minor bolt ons while im saving for F/I /built motor or heads/cam/....Just don't know which way i want to go first...I don know I don't want to drop another 30k in my truck though!

anyone run QA1's? I know Noid has them but i really havn't heard much feedback about them....

qa1s are a dam dood shock have them in my truck and yes you need them in the front for best weight transfer it will lift the front more hence putting more weight on the rear

and you will get some weight savings with the electric fan ...and its off the nose of the truck which is a good thing il be getting his fan setup very soon!!!!

I have run QA1s on all 4 corners of the red truck for 3 years.

QA1s are a great shock, I got mine from Justin.....:D:D:D

How did the QA1's hold up on the street, did you even notice a difference?

The Qa1s seem to hold up just fine on the street.
They can be adjusted so I can tune the suspension for what I am going to do.

The factory Bilsteins are a very good shock and unless you are going Drag racing or road racing, I would not have changed them out for QA1.

I am a Drag Racer and I wanted the adjustability of the shocks.
On the rears I can tighten them up and it will take the throttle hit better.
On the fronts I can loosen them and let the front end come up to facilitate weight transfer

I would not want to drive the truck around the block with the shocks set up for the track.

With the QA1s I can have the best of both worlds.

I can also set up the shocks a little looser for a smoother ride if I am going to drive on a really bumpy road like I 5 north from San Onofre to Bakersfield.

ok thats waht i wanted to know about the shocks....i just had another guy on here with a QC that had them and went back to stock Bilsteins due to the QA1's sucking for street use....I think i'll just get caltracs with DR's and cal it a day as far as traction for the strip....

Thanks alot for the input FSTJACK

Caltracs with DR's.

Ok so what else would yall recommend for me to reach the 12's? I will be getting caltracs, dr's and catless mids K&N drop in......I want headers but i don't think there worth the money....for now at least until i find a good deal on some B&B's!!
I have the parts in my sig awaiting install now......
What else can i get?.....

I think you'll need all the standard bolt-on, the sct and a torque convertor. Also some good weather when you get to the track.

Scott (Flyinglow) ran in the 12's with bolt ons and a good DA.

B&B mids w/HF's were the best bang for the buck mod I ever made....Not sure if they make them for a QA...If not, pick up a nice pair of HF cats and have a decent exhaust shop flow bend you some 3 inch to your Magnaflow.

SCT tune for 93 octane (on the dyno with your truck or at least an updated email tune based on your data)
Drop in K&N Filter
Caltracs
DR's
QA's are nice but not needed...I am suspect how well they will perform day to day on the heavier QC.
Go to a decent track when there is optimal DA (better hurry, time is running out)

Take out spare tire
Remove Tail gate
No Tonneau cover

Dont require smog where i am so there will be no cats...I plan on getting catless mids at least if i can't afford the B&B headers...Dont know what you mean by the whole flow bend process...Are'nt our exhaust already 3"?

Already have an SCT...it will be tunned by Torrie:rock:
Drop in K&N check
Caltracs check
DR"s check
QA 1's...not so sure about since ive been hearing there not the best on the street....

Don't have a tonneau cover, will remove at least tailgate and spare tire....probably subs in the back also....
