I have noticed a few things:
1. at around 80 mph when the s/c is engaged I get a definate hesitation.
2. at WOT with the tow option in normal (not lit) I get shifting up/down like it's kicking into passing gear. RPM's were like 4500 or so, I was moving fairly well but didnt notice how fast as I was worried the damn thing was going to explode. Somewhere around 100 I think. it was kinda like kicking ass then this started up..down...up...down...backed out.
3. I have been getting converter efficiency engine codes also but nothing else.

Any Ideas guys?

Also, I didnot receive the tuning software disk when I got my s/c and vec III. Can you send it?

I forgot to mention I have dyno time scheduled for Friday. Kinda leery of it due to the problems but, I guess that's how we get the numbers. I guess I should tell the guy to take it easy. I am hoping to get the raw numbers this time and ship em to Sean. Joe at PBJ is on vacation until the end of July (bad timing with the nats coming) so, this is the option I have left. Hopefully Roe will custom tune this by mail once I can get the numbers to em

Here's the e-mail reply I sent Perry this morning when I received his e-mail.

Good Morning Perry.

Regarding your item #’s, here are my replies:

#2, Most likely, your transmission kickdown linkage cable is out of adjustment. It’s adjusted at the throttle cable mount. Press the adjuster button in at the housing and move the cable body 1 click forward. This will in effect loosen the cable and you should be back to normal unless you have some other transmission problem.

#3, I don’t know if you have stock cats or no cats, but if you have either and are getting an efficiency light code, the downstream O2 sensors need to be taken out of the pipes and hung in the air, plugging the O2 sensor holes in the pipes. Quite simply, the PCM is not seeing enough of a voltage split between the upstream and downstream sensors.

#1. The SC is engaged at all times and is always moving air. For further diagnosis of the condition you describe, I would actually need to know an engine RPM and operating condition, such as holding steady full throttle and it has a hesitation at X RPM, or it’s when I get on the gas at X RPM. If the condition exists solely at a certain vehicle speed, regardless of engine RPM, you should consider taking the truck to your local Dodge dealer for service.

The VEC software is not included with the SC kit, but is available separately. Instead of paying $25,000 to our software engineer to create the program, he agreed to be paid $99 for each copy sold. The software is available at $99 and we include all the instructions on how to use it and the logging functions.

1. worked on the kickdown cable. It seems to have smoothed out all my tranny issues. The thing doesn't spill my pepsi when it shifts out of first and I dont get the passing gear issue. Seems like I lost some horsepower though. Would that happen from adjusting the linkage?
2. cats deleted. I bought the B&B exhaust system including headers. We are planning on plugging the o2 holes (ordering the plugs if this will work)on the truck. Still popping the same converter codes regularly.
3. I'll keep you posted on the hesitation. It seems to have subsided. I am going to have PBJ custom tune my truck when he gets back from vacation.
4. how do you order the vec III programing software? I cant find it on the site.

Havent been to Searcy in a long time. You might want to come up to Paragould to run at George Ray's (or watch me). That Roe is pure music bro. You'll love it.

Still a bit

I'm still getting a bit of hesitation at around 80mph. The other day the tranny shifted from from second to third. I mashed the gar and it felt like the motor was missing. I looked up and I was blowing black smoke. Any ideas?

Do you get the hesitation in more that one gear at 80 mph? Or is it an rpm related hesitation?
 
That sounds like a tune issue. Have you been on a Dyno yet? A dyno run will help you identify how the truck is reacting to the tune.

My stock tunes were really close on the air:fuel ratio. The tune ROE sent based on my dyno file was actually to rich on the top end. So I need to get on a dyno to trim fuel just a touch in the higher RPM. I am thinking nothing will beat a tuner with truck on the dyno to see instant results of changes made.

Roy, it seems like all the time but as far as I can tell it goes away if I use to tow switch.
