The forged factory internals aren't equal to good aftermarket parts. There were pictures awhile back of a GTS that had the insides move to the outside, with a mild shot. If the tune is bad enough to ruin factory cast parts, factory forged parts aren't going to last much longer.
I'd like to know the build specs on the Silver GTS in that video!
Good info, thanks. The forged factory internals of the 96-99 models are 1000 times more solid than the cast internals of the Gen III.
They are rock solid up to 800 rwhp and alot of guys turbo charging up to 1000 rwhp on them. My 97 makes 660rwhp on stock motor with the Roe. Its limited by the blower, not the internals.
Throw a 200 shot with a good tune on a 96-99 and run it with confidence.
Of course, a bad tune van grenade ANY motor stock, built or otherwise.
Nice truck, GLWS
do those bars scrape on every speed bump?
I'm headed to eBay to look for one now! Any idea what it takes to make the tall person friendly?A 96-99 will take some serious abuse for an OEM engine, 300 hit on N20 is not uncommon at all. I wouldnt think twice about making 800whp on stone stock bottom end, its been done many times. A (former) friends 98 went 10.10 with a 200 hit/borla/17" drag radials, and one of my best friends 99 GTS went 9's consistently on a 300 hit with stock bottom end. His buddies went 9.60's@high 140's with a Roe and N20 on stock bottom end, tons of passes in both of them.
