upcoming race

i have been called out by a coworker. we will take it to the track tomorrow weather permitting. he has a 2004 vette convertible auto tranny (bone stock). i will be running an 05 qc using 100 octane tune and dropping the rear pressures (mods in sig). he is very modest and he honestly thinks i will beat him. i am a less confident. what do you guys think the outcome will be? i haven't raced a vette b/f. if he beats me i'll just make him race tnviper.

100 octane wont do much, it will take a few tanks to cycle through

i glanced at his rear tires on the way in this morning. traction has apparently been a problem for him. the first set of goodyear runflat slicks i've ever seen (lol). so i may have a decent chance.

If both get a good bite it will be very close. If he blows off the tires, you have a good shot. It may well come down to reaction time...be on your toes.

Bristol does not figure reaction time into ET during street fight races......Best thing Ken can do is red light so if the Vette is faster he will cross the line first giving the illusion of beating the Vette...

Joanne ran an 06 in rockingham , an automatic in her QC , her QC had long tubes, flash, catless, and catback. about 472 rwhp.

but she beat him in the quarter by a fender every time and she had a full tank of fuel, and a tool box in the bed and spare and tons of junk inside

so you shouldnt have a prob with him at all:rock:

tested out the 100 octane tune this morning to ensure no detonation at high rpm's. before going to the track. the truck pulls like a raped ape. the vette is gonna have his hands full and hopefully get it on video to show the coworkers.

beat the vette heads up. twice. on the best run we both spun pretty bad he had me up to the 1/8, but i reeled him in. i had a horrible 60ft of 2.202, 8.88(to his 8.79) in the 1/8 and 13.8 in the 1/4. i ran 4 times best time of the night was 13.5 at 102 with a not so good 60 ft of 2.154 and that was with 93 octane tune. bumped it up to 100 octane tune for 3 runs (including vette races) and that was apparently more than the tires could take. no matter what rpms i left at as the rpms in first and second gears climbed the tires would start to break loose pretty bad. i did get my best trap speed ever with the 100 octane tune at 106. my best 60 ft to date has been 2.004. if i could combine the 2 i could have a pretty decent time for a NA QC. the other race was so horrible i refuse to post the times, but my 60 ft was 2.479 to his 2.560if that tells you anything.

Congrats Ken...great times for a QC at Bristol....you could possibly hit around a 13.0 at a better track and better temp....90s and high humidity didnt help you today..

Sorry I missed you...My dad is in the hospital and I had to be there (will be OK)...I did make a run out to Bristol about 7pm to buy some race fuel only to find out they quit selling unleaded race fuel...saw your truck but you were not around and I had to get back....maybe we can try again this coming Thurs..

work should be interesting on monday. we have 3 srt-10 in the er. he is gonna be catching some serious shi* from every corner. he said he aint going back to the track until he gets intake and full exhaust. on a side note i saw a friggin awesome 2007 porsche turbo last night. he was running high 10's. he pulls in beside me to park. we he gets out im am stunned to see like a 75 yo dude. he was handing people their asses all night.
