We removed over 250lbs with the seats and the other interior stuff plus the added weight of the rollbar, though it is chrome moly so it does weight a bit less. So I think we are netting just over 250lbs removed. We will weight it next week before we load up on the trailer for Maxton. And I never drove it daily, but right now, it is a bit of a chore to get in or out.

Are you not allowed to use swing outs on your diagonal side bars? That certainly makes a difference in ease of entry/exit.

Yep, those are being mocked in on Friday night, and I will be using quick release pins and swing outs. Those bars are not installed in these photos. They will be at the armrest height of the door panel. Of course, with the race seat, my shoulders are just above the window opening. We have to also mockup the window net on Friday night. Then Richard will finish tig welding everything, then off to the powdercoater. But while thats going on, the truck will be at Sean Roes getting dyno tuned for 104 octane and NOS runs.

Also, I'm 6'3" and weigh about 300lbs. Plus I'm over 50, so no matter what, it's still a chore just to get up in the morning, so I'm going to whine about getting in and out of the truck. But thats why the roll cage is a bolt in, so when I'm done with the racing thing, I can take it out.

Just left the fab shop, the swing outs and the net for the door and window is all mocked up and the final welding starts tonight. Yep, getting real serious and the excitement is building BIG time.

Here is the cage getting it's final welds done. The swing out bar on the drivers side is done.

heres the pics

Thanks RAM! I know my HP will never be up to yours, but I still want to be fast!! The red "Paint" is where I got ahead of myself and had the original 4 point roll bar powdercoated, then when I talked to the powers that be in Maxton, they informed me I had to have a 6 point roll bar, so.... I get to strip and re powdercoat the bar this week, YEA!!

Hey Big Nana,I will try to find my pics of my cage I had in my Dakota R/T that I had,it was sprayed and blown,it ran 11.08's,What I did with mine is I used the bar that you had on your 4 pt that crossed down beside the seats,I used that bar as my swing out,it sure made it easier to get in and out, climbing over it makes it tough!
