Update on my RollCage install

Well, I am already done with the cage now. If you look at these last pics, You can see the swing out bar is there right at my armrest height, so I should be good to go. Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate all and any interest.

Picked up the roll cage tonight and we also tested the Parachute. I was only going about 50MPH, so it did not open too quick, but it did open. I think that when we go to the track, it will be fine.

:dontknow: is this safety device or do you realy need the chute due track shortness ? :dontknow:

Hey Big Nana..I remember when you started this project awhile back..going for the record I mean..if you had to do it over, would you?..just curious..I know its a big expensive deal and all..what would you do differently next time around?..

Yes, the parachute is a safety issue because of the chance that I might exceed the 175MPH mark, it is required to have a chute in the speed class. There is almost a mile of shut down area, but you would be surprised how fast that goes by at over 150MPH. It can be real scarey to try and stop 5100lbs. of truck at that speed. That is why I had to go to a 6 point roll bar as well. If I decide to go to the next level, 200MPH, I have to go to a 8 point cage and more safety equipment that will add alot of expense. If I had to do it over again, I would say that I might have decided to stay with a 1/4 mile setup and not gone after the Land Speed record. More because of the present economic times, not because I don't enjoy the LSR, I just am flat out of funds!! Take a look at the pictures, I am going to have to raise the seat about 1.5" to get where I can see over the hood scoop!

My son followed me back to my house, he said it was weird to see the truck going down the road with nobody visible driving it from the back!

If I was Grown up, I would have kept my Volvo I bought back in 1995 because I thought it was the adult thing to do! No... I'll stay a little kid till my pecker drops off, then I'll just add wheels to it and drag it along!!
