upgrading the Pirelli's

I was wondering what you guys thought about an all around street tire upgrade for the Pirelli's. This is for my everyday driver Q/C. I am working on adding HEADERS and the Roe s/c with clatracs in the future.

What I am looking for is something to aid in traction and not mess up the smooth (LOL) ride and improve handling

I've got General Grabber UHP's on mine. Love them. Great traction wet or dry. They don't dance all over the place. And they're not that expensive. Do a search on Tirerack.com for your tire size and see what it kicks back. Some are going Nitto's some Toyo's and there are some others. The Generals have gotten great reviews on Tirerack.

I am going to try the Nitto NT420S when my Pirelli's wear out. Discount tire has them on special for $199 per tire with free ground shipping. I think they look cool and they have a decent tread wear rating.

I have the Nitto's and like them pretty well, far better traction, straight line and cornering than the Pirrellis. Neat tread design, a little rough ride when cold but that is gone in a mile.

I have the BFG G-force T/As which are constantly on backorder from tirerack, which I don't even see on Tirerack anymore. Bought at 259 a pc. last summer. The ride quality went way up, they have a good tread design, and I drive my truck daily (including in the rain) and they do fine.

My next set will either be the Nittos or the Yokos most likely.

Remember when selecting a tire for this truck, to take into account the performance rating of the tire (Z - which encompasses W and Y speed ratings)... and while an H rated tire might give you a nicer ride, your performance could suffer.

UPGRADING from the Pirelli's is kind of difficult.

Unfortunately, the majority of available tires for these trucks are V-rated.
Of the 26 on the market in this size, only 4 are W-rated (BFG, Pirelli, Yokohama & Continental). And the treadwear ratings are all 320 or lower.

If it's your daily driver, you'll probably want a treadwear rating somewhere in the 400's. That means V-rated (149mph), but there are about 12 different available models available.

If you want flat-out performance, go with the BFG's. You'll pay a pretty penny though.

I use same tire. I bought 4 new stock tires and I still am happy with it. I dont know why..maybe it is because of its cheap price for all 4 tires.
