Upper ball joint caused my wreck.

not to stick my 2 cents in but i will stick my 2 cents in any way lol,,,i use to have a 2000 dodge dakota r/t reg cab ,,,i was driving to fast around an "s" curve and did the same thing to my dakota ball joint on side that was PLOWING,,did not know it was broke till i took it in to get bald tires in rear replaced ,,,still dont know why my rear tires always go bald first mmm tire defect??? ,,i dont know ,,and hose popping off you had a major back fire or two,,, that oil missing now that is a strange one ,,if it died and was turning engine in the right direction you probably had blow by ,engine running back wards ,,the sound BANG would come to mind ,,,i wonder what ticket you got ,,,maybe to fast for conditions ???

opps double post ,,,to fast for conditions im thing on this post lol

Ironhead: There was a TSB/recall on some of the Dakota/Durango ball joints.
Manufacturing error.

I work on 4 strokes that run in foward and reverse at the flip of a switch. A gas engine would still fire but it would not "run" the fuel would burn and back fire out the intake. what most likely happened that your truck spun backwards and the engine was forced to redirect and when you spun back around the engine was bump started in the correct rotation it ran like ass cause your hoses were off etc. as for your 4 quarts of oil loss you have a different problem.

if your oil wasnt on the ground and you say you lost it....is there any way it could have found its way into the radiator perhaps? just guessing...:dontknow:

Do you have an explination for the lines blown off my intake, the fuel dripping out of my filter and the hissing and dieseling sound the engine made, the truck shaking when the throttle pressed and the engine stalling? What about my oil level being fine sunday and not touching my stick now, and the smoking when i started it back up. Please tell me your not calling B.S. to accuse me of lying. To do so would be ignorant. What would be to gain from lying about a foolish mistake.

And your saying busting a ball joint would not make it more difficult to regain control of a sliding vehicle? Thats ignorant. And arrogant of you to waste your time to insult me.

I'm new to this Viper 10cyl stuff, but my guess regarding the dieseling sound and loss of power is that since your vacuum lines came off in the incident, depending on which ones, could've thrown off timing, the computer and other stuff too. I can't explain 4 qts of oil...:dontknow: Good thing you and your truck are OK!:top:

It's time to call these guys.:D

And to get even more to the point IMO...wet surfaces and our trucks is a very dangerous situation. Care must be taken by all...there are dozens of stories about the back end swapping with the front end in wet conditions...not trying to blame anyone, just trying to raise awareness...

same happened with me many years ago. luckily all i did was front bumper damage, but yet again, it was driver not vehicle fault.. same scenerio as you my friend.
