weird thing going on. every 500-1000 miles this thing eats a quart of oil.

there is a very small drip from the right front of the truck, thinking its a cooler line since they havent been done, but no where near enough to account for several quarts of oil.

I dont check it as often as i should so i can narrow it down more but i have checked the exhaust, warm and cold and no blue smoke with someone following me.

Also no oil in radiator so a head gasket should be ruled out

how much does this cooler and lines hold?? im wondering if the PO let it leak down too much and then just put in enough to show on the dipstick when i bought it. would that cover it?? put in about 3 quarts so far............:dontknow:

How many miles on your truck.

They do burn oil, about 1qt every 1k on average.

What kind of oil are you using? I was using mobil 1, 0w-40 but stopped, im running castrol 0w-40 now. My oil cooler lines were leaking as well, you might want to get those replaced now it will only get worse.

Get the jtsvp oil lines, they work.

I add 1qt at 3,000 miles and it is not low at the 4,000 change time. But---if I go over the 4,000 by 1,000 to 1,500 as I have done in the past it uses another quart. Only MOBILE 1 and in Texas we mostly uses the 15-50 as it gets hughly warm here.

I change the oil every 3000 miles or so and it still reads full on the dipstick. I'd go farther but I run out of time. Old oil is as bad or worse than dirty oil.

I change all my other synthetic oil cars at 5000 miles. Changes every 3000 AND adding 2+ qts is gonna get expensive.
Shorty - it gets pretty damn warm here n Vegas too, was wondering what you folks did for oil n the summer. Thanks.
