Veteran Funeral

Hey guys, I dont really know how to do this, so bare with me a little. I just found out that a near and dear family friend of mine and my wife has passed after a long bought with cancer and after talking with our friend, they dont even have enough money to have a funeral. The burial is free because he is being laid to rest in a military cemetary. I think the cost of the funeral is $3,500. So I just wanted to see if anybody would want to help out if you wanted to. I dont know, does this sound to pushy and forward, I mean I just want to help out in some way and it would be one less thing for their family to have to deal with. If you cant contribute, thats okay. thank you for the info, it is my understanding that he died at home, so he is only eligible for being buried and none of the funeral cost. I think I am going to also going to do some sort of fundraiser around town here,something like sell bbq plates, etc.. anything to help raise money. i am also thinking of calling thier church for assistance. the family i am helping are too proud to ask anybody for help....im sure alot of us know how that goes....

I would also recommend talking to a couple of the funeral homes in town and letting them know story. You never know, one of them might step up and offer their services for free.
