Vibration at 70mph

Out getting strange
I have a nasty vibration in the steering wheel right at about 70.
I took it down to discount tire and they said 2 tires were very out of round and moved a lot (up and down) so they replaced them under warranty. They said the other 2 looked great.

The issue still exists so I have an appointment tomorrow but I have no clue what they are going to do to try and fix.
They can check the driveline balancing and maybe the rims for bent rims?

I figure if the rims were bent they would be able to see that when they balanced the tires at the tire shop??

Any ideas or suggestions to make to the dealer?

Damn thing has been at the dealer 3 times and it hes less than 1k miles ! Wifey is starting to get pissy.
 
Check the wheels too.

Some were bent from the factory.

Some other things to do.

Swap the wheels from the front to rear.

If all else fails, have the dealer take some 20's off of a truck on the lot and see what happens.
 
yeah... it sounds to me like the tires aren't balanced properly... I assume the alignment is fine... <that's ez to check too, just see if your car drifts to one side>... that will shimmy the wheel maybe tho... not vibrate it...

I'm with maui...i'm puttin my money on a balancing issue
 
Mine had the same issue. Went back and forth with different wheels, etc..Turned out to be that when these trucks sit, the tires get flat. Once driven for a while they round out again...


My "70mph shake" went away with new tires, then came back...it confused all of us, then I decided to just drive it and it went away after a while. I parked it for a couple weeks, then it came back again...that's when we figured it out.

Its still at the dealer. I told them I had 2 new tires on the back and all the tires were balanced (I dont think road forced) I also told them the truck also pulls to the right just a little.

I noticed the most when I was on a very smooth road like the freeway, right at 70 steering wheel shakes.

On a normal road it didnt really happen (probably because the road wasnt as smooth to notice)

I should be getting a call soon about what they did or doing to fix it.
 
i'm having the same issue,just had my tires balanced and it still didnt go away,have an appt to force balance them on tuesday,they only have 7k on them
 
Im gonna hijack this thread ;) Around 70 to 100 mph my truck starts to feel
like it's drifting... Never felt like that before. :dontknow: any ideas?

Got a call from my svc advisor. Other 2 tires were garbage so they are ordering new ones and rebalanced the existing 'new' ones using road force balance.
Ill get it back tomorrow after they mount the new tires.
We'll see!

My truck is a new '05 and have the original tires so no they arent going to charge me. I assume the new Pirelli's will be OK since I just got 2 for the back and they Road force balanced them OK.

Ill get it back sometime Friday after the new tires come in and mounted. Ill go freeway driving and test it out
 
OK I'm getting pissed now. Pirelli told the dealer to suck it and are not going to warranty my other 2 bad tires. My svc advisor is trying to see if the svc manager is going to step up and get 2 new tires for me from somewhere else. Of course the service manager is at the doctor and is coming back sometime later.

F Pirelli. I looked up their number to call and bitch at someone but all their contact numbers are in Italy or some crap. F those pricks.
If anyonen has a US number for them I would please love to have it. I will politely be letting them know the great many members of this forum will be reading about their bad service.

I think that the tires should be handled by Chrysler and not Perelli. Any tire that has sat for 2 years with a load on it will get this flat spotting if it is not driven around. It is not something that the tire mfg. can control. It is something that Chrysler should control. When tire mfg. sell to the car mfg. it is usually done at cost. The mfg. hopes to make up for it when replacment tires are needed. I do like my Yokohamas much better than the original tires.

ur probably right but these tires seem to have alot of problems after sitting for just 2 days let alone 2 years
 
I said the hell with it and bought 2 yokohama's for the bad pirelli's.

I have to say the yokohama's KICK ASS!

They make that 5600lb tank drive like my 300SRT8.

Smooth like glass and cheap about $215 per tire.
