Viper compared to Ram Viper?

Does anyone make a head cam combo package ? I shearched around a little, on this site and Google. But havent really seen anything as far as this is our kit this is the numbers you can expect to see this is the cost.

is this a taboo subject ? lol

Im new to the viper motor, but with Chevy's its allways been yeah stock heads never flow as good as aftermarket heads. With the lack of aftermarket heads for the Viper does this mean that stock heads are about as good as you can get for the motor ?



I see gen 1 and 2 and 3 vipers putting down 800-1000 horsepower supercharged? and thats easy to do

yet our trucks with the same motor only puts down 650-700 supercharged?
and is not as easy to do

can someone explain to me whats the difference ?

The motors are pratically the same .....most super charged vipers put out the same 650 rwhp....it is just that people have been modding vipers longer and have already gone with forged internals and upped the boost to get 800+ hp.....you are starting to see that now with Ram SRT 10's....3 guys are currently building 800+ rwhp rides...

As far as a head cam package....they are expensive and still get you less hp than the paxton....so most of us just went the S/C route....
 
Then the really SICK ones went like my SIG line.....Figure 50 grand......your gonna do some things twice and three times....If u wanna know, ask Mike or myself, and well tell you to call Dan Cragin or Boomer, Dont waste your time with anyone else cuz they are just copying these guys.

so where does the 50hp increase come from on a gen3 motor, vs, gen1, and 2?

As I understand it, mostly from reworked heads. Obviously the intakes changed on the GenIII as well, but flowing the GenII heads made a significant difference.
 
go to www.rollingthunderz.com he will hook you up ask for NED... ive seen well over 100 vipers roll in and out of his shop with 100rwhp gains with a simple heads cam package.. he just did the President of Viper Car Club Of Americas car this yr and you konw if somone who is into vipers that much takes it to him, that he konws his shit... neway deffinitly check him out before making up your mind...

That is unless you want to throw even larger sums of money into it. Then see Heffner. I would also give a real nod to those guys at Underground Racing. Those boys build some mean, sick motherf*ckers (currently some of the most powerful Viper-based vehicles around)!
 
A lot of folks are now using the 708 cam and strikers. Have done of bunch of these recently...

Even for 5 grand or more and only a 50 hp increase. I still think its worth it. When all the other mods and paxton are on you will benifit alot more. But like somone said going fast aint cheap and 50 hp is alot to me. Not to mention when the motor blows, you have a nice pair of heads and cam for a 522 stroker :)

I like to buy a whole kit, and take it to a good shop and say here put my heads and cam in. All other mods i will do myself. Then final go see Boomer for that Paxton.

Tom, does that 708 cam have any lope to it?
It's a lot cheaper than having one custom cut, but I am afraid it won't have enough lope for me:dontknow:
I want a cam that I can hear thumpin

Thats the problem.....it costs more than a paxton...

these v-10 heads are expensive then the rocker gear....cam....matched porting on the intake....then you need headers....valve cover spacers and labor....$12000.00 to do it right and then 100-120 rwhp...
 
I just emailed Ned at Rollingthunderz to ask for some more details about the phase 3 heads and cam. With a future installment of a paxton.
