I'm sure it wouldn't be worth the trouble. But if you blew your engnie would putting in a Gen 2 engine be an option? Sometimes you can find a deal on a nice Gen 2 motor. And those things rock!

What would it take to make it work?

Other than a diffrent Intake manifold what else is diffrent?:dontknow:

Weren't these engines built with forged internals up to '99? :burnout: < I like that guy.

With that said why not put a GEN IV in there :)

I guess with the engine being new and all you would end up paying for
the R&D out your ass.. where as the Gen II is already well known :dontknow:
:D

To my knowledge same block, so should bolt in.

Slightly longer stroke (8.4L). Redesigned heads, intake and forged internals. Toss in a new PCM and you should not have to big of an issue getting it to run right.

Yes, the initial cost of the engine would be more, no doubt. But, IMHO, a much better base than a GEN II engine, not to mention I would not expect to see new products from people like Roe for the GEN II engine, whereas there will be new technolgy being developed for the GEN IV.

Good call  i was mainly thinking about the cam in cam and some of the
other stuff that would take a month or two to figure out. But hells ya brother
go with the Gen IV if you can

Who cares about NEW products from Roe for the GEN II? He already has a proven supercharger kit for it!

Exactly, the Gen II has a ton of stuff readily available. For the Gen IV you will need to wait out the development and testing cycle. And it usually isn't best to be the first on the block with something new, we all know that. Let somebody else be the guinea pig.

It just seems like this would be a good idea for those that want to mod. I mean, you remove your Gen 3 and replace it with a Gen 2 that's already built with forged internals and purchase the proven Roe kit. Wouldn't that be cheaper than pulling a Gen3 and getting it built to the point it can handle a paxton or turbo or 2000 shot of nawwwwwws?
