Transmission is finally in...long story, will post details later.

I have issues with the Viper Master/Slave unit in my truck. The clutch isnt fully disengaging, so at around 3500 + RPMs with the clutch pedal on the floor the truck will start rolling forward. Also noticed that the clutch doesnt start to disengage until the pedal is almost to the floor. There is no air in the line and this problem was there before the trans was swapped out.

The slave unit is shimmed with both spacers...The master isnt really adjustable, so perhaps its a bad slave ?

Comments ?

TIA

I would say slave or pressure plate problem...

When you say both shims, you mean both 1/8" shims correct?

Only master height is adjustable using the 1/2" shim at the firewall. Did you place the shim on the master?

you need to do some pain in the butt measuring, the hieght of the press plate fingers with the clutch installed, and the slave cylinder to the tranny housing,
pm Jack or call him , he can give you the details, he walked me throu it when I installed the McCleod, its time consuming but worth it. it sounds as if you need the 1/4 inch spacer off the top of my head,

the roe kit i got came with only 2 shims: 1 for the slave ~1/8" & 1 for the master ~1/2" & with instructions that made it very clear..... clutch works great !!!:D

Thanks for the feedback ;)

The kit came with (2) 1/8 " spacers and used both of them on the slave unit. I adjusted the master on the firewall for pedal height but I am not aware of any other adjustments in regards to hydrolic engagement on the master.

I got the truck home now, so its back together and off the lift.

Cant imagine needing a custom shim for my setup when its the same as numerous other folks here. :dontknow:

May have been a bad master/slave from the start.

Ordered new master/slave unit and a OEM flywheel...Thanks Justin ! ;)

Havent been happy with the Fidenza, so since its going to be all apart, might as well swap it out.

make sure you have both shims, a total of .250".
you may just need to bleed the slave cylinder, and master if its a airbubble, and or the throwout bearing could have collasped.
i would get a chromoly flywheel from Dan over at DC before i put in a superheavy stock flywheel. the flywheel Dan has is 21lbs lighter than stock, and it wont warp, and you will have the added benefit of not having the parasitic consumption of the heavy flywheel.

Appreciate the input Boomer ;)

The system has been bleed at least 4 times (twice before the trans swap and twice after) via a hand pump. Tried the usual way and force fed, nothing had any impact on the hydrolics performance.

Used both shims....

Wanted to go OEM to help in the troubleshooting (reducing variables) and in the $120 range, using the OEM flywheel was an acceptable cost.

When I get things working, I plan to go to the DC unit. Since I will be beating the crap out of the Centerforce with a healthy shot of NoS and paired with M&H slicks, figure I will be replacing the clutch in the near future anyway ;)

I have issues now

I had my dealer put in Boomer's CLutch Kit about 2,000 miles ago. I have viper master & slave with his spacers. Stock flywheel with centerforce clutch. My truck has been shifting awesome until about a week ago.

I guess I have been noticing it has been getting harder to put into reverse for a few weeks....but progressively worse.

last week, with the clutch depressed, I revved it up while not moving and I immediately noticed clutch smell. Truck has slowly become extremely difficult to shift at higher RPMS....in any gear.

When sitting still, clutch in and tranny in 1st gear, I rev to 3000 or more and the truck creeps forward.

From idle and in first gear, I only have to let the clutch out a "smidge" and it starts to engage.

I think I have some major air in the wrong place in my set-up.

I am aware of the bleed instructions from Boomer, but is there any other way that's easier?

thank you
