I am considering a cai and have decided that if I buy one, it will be the volant with the hood adapter.
Are there any noticable improvements in hp or tq? Does anyone have dyno proof of any increace?
They claim about 30 something hp gain. Kind of hard for me to believe that. I could see maybe a 2-3 gain if any.
I would hate to use my mod money on a useless product.

i believe dyno tests have proven the stock intake with a k&n drop in filter is about the best overall hp gains...as far as intakes, forget hp gains and just go for "looks"...cant go wrong with JMB's CAI, and it doesnt sit on the top of the motor covering it up.... my .02 anyways

True, all of that!

I am going with the K&N drop in, part number 33-2297. I haven't seen a CAI yet increase HP worth a hill of dung to justify plunking down $200 plus. Although the JMB CAI gets my bling bling vote. IMO, K&N CAI's are junk. I had one of their FIPK's on my '96 Chev K1500. And the cold idle on that motor was really screwed up. Besides hunting for a good idle, it idled anywhere between 1500 RPM and 2500 RPM. Had to shutdown the truck everytime after initial startup to get the IAC motor to reset -- a royal PITA. Add to this problem, 2 other problems with cracked air tubes -- I finally gave up and tossed the whole kit in the trash and put the stock box back on. I can't speak to the Volant -- never tried one of them -- not sure I would after I read the Posts here. My$0.02 worth.

I had the volant on for awhile and changed to the Jmb with catch can.The snorkel looked kind of nice, but ended up taking it off.The scoop helps get some heat out of the motor area and the snorkel really didnt seem to do much.Power gains? forget about it.The sound and the bling factor is what CAI's are all about. That being said, JMB w/catch can wins hands down.IMO

Ditto, ditto.

Forget about HP gains, buy one for the bling and tone.

plus i forgot to add i have a freind that on the back side of the scoop he cut a nice clean square hole slot that lets some air through it

I've heard about weird idling rpm's with CAI's, is that true with all of them?

I'm specifically asking about the JMB.

I have had JMBs CAI for some time now with no problems.I did have a problem with the TPS( Throttle position sensor ) His CAI is top notch in my book.

i have one on my truck the old owner gave it to me, after i got the k&n plastic cia but i like the volant better reponse and it sounds so pissed off but all and all i wouldnt pay all that money for it.

I Agree with people who have them, I LOVE my Volant, There are allot of people selling them in the Buy/Sell Thread, If you can, get it used for $100 or more cheaper.

The Looks are Awesome, Regardless rather or not that scoop is for Getting cool air around the engine, The normal everyday person dosnt know that, And are very disappointed to see that it is Unused.

Its Awesome, Easy to install, And the sound is wicked. If you buy it you will love it.......
