Hey everyone!
At Mopar Nationals 2007, I got the pleasure of meeting a few of the folks from the Viper Club of America and having nice discussions about the engines, the future of the Viper program, and the VCA and VTCOA groups.

Last week I was invited to the Regional VCA meeting here in Columbus. Sam Goldfarb (the guy who looks like Santa in the pic) asked me to come down and sit in on the meeting to see how they do it, offer suggestions, and just kinda let them in on how we do it on THIS side. :) The VCA was pretty impressed that we had almost 40 trucks at Nats this year, with no formal 'club' or corporate sponsorship. I explained, "We're good like that." LOL

They are very thorough and have a great calendar setup. They plan events 1-2 years in advance (sometimes more!). I'm still trying to figure out the structure, but I'm getting better.

What I got from the meeting regarding the VCA and VTCOA:
- We're gonna let Dodge take care of all the SRT stuff. Combining the 4, 6, 8 and 10's would be a massive undertaking, esp. on a national and international level. Dodge has the money and resources; they've got the job. LOL
If it's an SRT-labeled event, plan on seeing ALL of the SRT models represented.

- Sticking with the common demoninator- the engine- we're going to try to work the trucks into some regular Viper-specific events. It's going to be a little like a partnership at first. Think of it as dipping a toe in the water to see if it's cold, or if Stinker has already pee'd in it. :)
We need to try a few 'cruises' and 'meets' first to see how it all logistically works out. Start small and work bigger.

- Turnout is the key. When we do these events with the VCA, the more Viper-powered vehicles we have there, the better.

- Events will range from simple GTG's in restaurant parking lots to poker runs to full-on track days. A little bit of something for everyone. Like us, the Viper guys *love* to drive their vehicles. :D

- Separation will remain. VCA will be it's own thing; VTCOA will remain solo as well. Combining them would be very complicated and a big mess. It's easier to work as two entities.

I hope to build on this and keep this 'brother & sister' setup working to everyone's advantage. The VCA seems to be into it, so let's make the most of their gracious offer!
(That means no belching contests, Boomer! :))

I had a really nice time at the meeting today and learned a ton. Huge thanks to Sam for inviting me. I really appreciate that. Hopefully I helped a little with the info for future events.

Here's a nice group pic before the Vipers blazed out of there:

Note the tall goofy guy in the back. :D

Sounds interesting..hope it turns out to be a good thing for both sides.:)

Great work Kevan. (as usual). It can be a good thing to share experiences with other "Like minded" individuals.:burnout:

Did you tell them about.................all of us. I just hope they don't assume we are all like you :) Nice job. I'd still like to come over to Columbus for a cruise this summer.

I didn't really go into any detail about "us". No reason to get thrown out of the restaurant in the first 5 minutes. LMAO
The only real difference I picked up was that their vehicles sit a little lower to the ground. Pretty much all of them are engine geeks/HP junkies like us.

One of the gentleman owns SEVENTEEN Mopars! From the 60's thru....well, he has a 2008 Viper that's supposed to be delivered in the next 3 months. He even has one of our trucks. Hard f-ing core.

The VCA is really a lot like us, but considerably more structured. That can be both a good thing and a bad thing, but so can our 'free-form' setup. Figuring out how to mix the two is going to be the fun part. I'm all for it.

BTW- you can't really tell in the pic, but the parking lot of the Quaker Steak & Lube we were at had more burnout marks than NowWhat's undies. :D We were all good kids though: throttle only. :)

Tom- You know where all the cruises are around here. Just call me and I'll join ya. Or start a thread and maybe some of the lurkers will show up too. :D

Could be very interesting

Kevan,
Thanks for the faith in us! We aren't as structured as you may think! We are meeting at the Graeter's Ice Cream place in Powell OH, next to City BBQ. There is a large lot, good food and ice cream. Some times we cruise somewhere after we eat. Around noon! All welcome! Saturday Sept 1.

P.S. There were several tall goofy guys in the picture!

That is awesome...although no other SRT-10 trucks showed up at our Viper Club Poker Run this Weekend. It was my wife in the only Ram SRT there. It is certainly a good thing we have the best looking Ram SRT in the country...because thats how we rolls.

Hey Sam!
Thanks for the invite. I'll do my best to make it to Powell on Sat. (I'm 99% at this point).

If any VTCOA members have the chance, attend some of the VCA meet & greet events. They really are nice folks with the same addiction to HP that we all have.
They can also sympathize when it comes to prices on new tires. :D

Oh- and take a camera! Get some shots for the VTCOA site and for the VCA folks. Video is good too (esp. if there's a smoky burnout involved. LOL).

Stinker- if you go to one of the events, don't wear your "Show Me Your T*ts!" ball cap. Go with the 'mudflap girl' one instead. :) Subtlety is the key. :D
