VTCOA SuperSnake Hood

Got a very simple question, how can this hood be called the VTCOA anything, since it was supposed to available to VTCOA members ONLY and now anyone and their aunt or uncle can buy one?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

I was seriously thinking of buying one, but now that I know anyone with a Dodge Ram can buy one and put it on their HEMI, What's the point? They will be as common as a Hemi Ram soon.

I am just guessing, but I would think that there are not that many members that are going to buy a hood. On top of that there are now 3 different hoods on this site. So the costs of making a product just about forces the hood to be sold to other people. Then again, if everyone that buys one becomes a member, aren't they then only sold to members?

Just my thoughts on the subject.

ouch! seems a little harsh, we both did join? I dont plan on leaving after I get the hood ? I can understand a little but, its not like its going on a tundra or something, I do take great pride in my truck, and I will have you know have beaten an srt-10 at a car show, so I think I have a little something to show for my "hemi", sorrry that this offends.:dontknow:

i see were your coming from people buy rumble bee body lits and stipres and they are not Rumble bees its the same thing it makes us mad as well

but as long as they dont have the SRT-10 badge and kit all over it i dont see whats wrong with it

plus i mean that is a bsd A$$ hood when other ram owners see that they will want one as well

imatation is the best form of flattery :D

Owning an SRT-10 was never a requirement to be a member of this site. Just the love of nice vehicles, and the manors to conduct one's self with respect toward others.

If by purchasing a hood brings more good people here, I say OK.

There is the one Supercar has on his truck. And there is the one the Dennis and Mikey have on their trucks. And the one the Stinker and Roz are working on.

Which gives everyone 3 choices for their trucks.

You are good Coley, we are proud to have you.

Dennis and Mikey are basicly one of a kind, I don't count those. Are these still available from his non-vtcoa vendor ?:dontknow:

Besides that I thought Supercar was working together with stinker? Maybe with MV only ? That one is only 3 louvres (2 fins)
Stinker is selling the roz model with 6 fins right?

To recap:
6pak: Custom c/w (real) Viper 6 finned louvres and std sized scoop
Supercar: 3 finned vents c/w larger sized scoop
Stinker/Roz: 6 finned louvres with std scoop.

Can someone confirm in a new thread c/w prices cause think a lot of people are confused due to all the posts going on...

History of the VTCOA Hood,

Back in early October another member 6PacAttackposted Pics of his truck that had heat extractors incorporated into it and alot of members including myself thought it looked good and wanted one but the company said they were not going to make any more.
Someone else then mentioned having another co; make the hoods but mentioned how expensive it is and the thread was starting to die off.

I live near what used to be a first class fiberglass MFG and was given a quote for about $2,700.00+materials to put the hoods in production.

I decided that I would go ahead and pay to have the hoods put in production
as a gift to the VTCOA members and so stated.

I am retired and in poor health so I have no interest in operating a business.
I contacted Stinker and he was to have the business and my involvement was to end after the hoods went into production. My only compensation was
to be $20.00 a hood to cover my out of pocket expense.

I had observed an altered photo made by Roz of the scoop made larger and liked it, along with other members.

Things were fine until about Monday Oct 20, when the MFG advised that he was selling the business and could not do the hood;(found out later that his son was killed)

I then scrambled to find another competent MFG because Stinker had collected money from several members.

Two days later I was put in contact by Tim of MV with a OEM MFG that guaranteed they could deliver the hoods to the design and quality I wanted but it was going to
cost me to pay them to assign extra engineers to comlete the project by the
third week of Nov. I paid the money to save us embarrassment.

When I got back I received an PM from Stinker that he and Roz were going to make a hood. By this time I was out of pocket almost $5,000.00.

It was my idea to call it the VTCOA Hood and limit sales in the first place so it would distingish members but that just doesn't make sense at this point.

Bottom line, I delivered what I said I would on time, and at a price('to members')far less than originally thought.

At this time I want to say thank you to the members that have followed along this ordeal and contacted me, and recognize the money and effort
I put into this project, but I have to say, LOL if I had had a clue what this was going to involve, I would have stayed in bed that day!
At least I can claim title to having the most expensive hood, if not the fastest truck, yet.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! John T. Hargraves

I guess that sums it up pretty well !!! Yes,I have the Original, and yes I do believe the co. I got mine from really F'd up when he didn't want to make any more (which now I believe he is making them),but I'll give credit where it's due,for putting so much into an endeavor " THANK YOU" for filling a void in an area that certainly makes a difference in our trucks !!! I don't have the financial means to take on such a project, but it's nice to know that there are people that will listen to good ideas, and bring them to reality !!I had gone to a Billet specialist with a radiator cover request, they are now available !How many of you have Sneaky Pete or Fangs Centercaps on your wheels ?? I know whos truck the Prototypes are on !! So again I say THANK YOU Mr Supercar Dude for taking the ball and running with it !!!          :rock
As for others that want the hood, why not ?? Are we hollier than though that we can't share in great ideas just because they aren't an SRT10 ?? PLEASE !!!

Jay,just give the summmbeecah a swift kick in the azz and call it even !!!And you need to get his name right, it's

AARP

If the hood results in bringing good people together, rather than just being

a unique part that only a few have, then that makes it worth it.

.

Thanks John for all the info, I had no idea all the effort you put in , it just makes me respect you all the more:rock:
