I've seen some members on here who have a clear bra on their trucks and/or vipers to protect the front of their vehicles from rocks and road debris. I've asked my body shop guy and he couldn't suggest a place that does it. Who puts them on our trucks b/c I do not want to throw money away trying to do this myself? Also has anyone put one on an 06?

Good luck bro. I've been looking for someone to do this for 1 1/2 years. The front fascia is so different on these trucks no one seems to be able to tackle it. I just started using 3M blue painters tape and peeling it off when I get there. (Stole the idea from here mmmmmmtorque I think) Anyway if you find someone to do it let me know.

I had it on my wife's Infiniti FX and liked it. Checked out a couple places to see if they could do the truck. One said no. The other was willing to it but it would be a custom job and because of all the angles, it would have a number of seams. I decided not to do it.

Here are a couple things you can check out. The first is permenant and applied by body shops. One member, who has since been banned was going to do it on his. Never heard if he liked it or not.

Griots has a temporary spray on mask also. I just can't find it and I have to leave to go pick up my truck. If I can find it I will post that link also.

I had 3m film put on mine, 3 times. Looked like shit!!

Now my truck had some minor road scratches so it magnified them, also the front facia of the truck has alot of curves and is very difficult to do. The film needs to be streched alot and this causes ghosting which really shows up on black!!

I had it taken off after 3 times and got my money back!!

Good Luck!!!

clear bras get chips in them as well, and the softer ones don't have the showroom shine that paint has. I got a lot of miles on mine, and rock chips are the least of my paint issues.

If you had a silver or white truck, I would say go for it! But Black, you will not be happy if you like that show room shine!!!

Its almost cheaper to just pull the bumper and have it repainted when needed. I pull my bumpers on my car (Eclipse) and have them shot every two years to keep the ride looking good. Chips are going to happen and trying to prevent them is almost impossible. Consider it a fact of life and spend your money on go fast mods.

I tried the Griots temporary black spray and wasnt happy with it (very messy). Although its temporary this clear mask was easy to use and i used a brush. I coated most truck before a trip from California to Texas, took 1/2 gallon @$42 a gallon.

Thanks for the report on Griots spray. I was going to try it on my next trip, but will probably try something else now.

I am very happy with it, it has protected the hood and front end many times. I hear the rocks nail it, but no chips at all.

Are you talking about your Viper or the Truck Patrick? :dontknow: On the Viper you have a lot of nice rounded surfaces which work well with the 3M Film. Not true on the truck. I just didn't like the idea of all the seams that the truck would have ended up with.

On the car..but the car has a TON of seams that were cut into designs on the bottom fascia, it looks good though, and its clear so you cant really tell unless it was pointed out to. I know BigAsp has the clear bra on his, might want to see if he can shoot some pics of it..

Hi, new to site with this being first post. Had the armorcoat product sprayed on to my 06 toyota with great results at this time. Live in Wisconsin with the road salt, dirt placed on the roads during winter and the product has delivered everything the company claims. Sprayed in July, 6500 miles ago and the front end is still flawless. Very expensive and very difficult to apply. Will be spraying the SRT this spring. Thanks

6500 miles? I have 20,000+ miles with no bra and no chips. other then where I rubbed a parking curb! gah ;-)
