Didn't we have a Sticky on the NFFF about what case law prohibits a manufacturer from denying warranty work based on aftermarket parts....?


Today my Check ABS light cam on in my GT2 and Porsche is saying that it may not be covered because I have aftermarket wheels....:mad:

You have to be f'n kidding me...

I told them thank you for the warning but if the work is denied don't expect me to to roll over.....

Rokt has posted a few Magnusson-Moss Act threads .... I'm sure that's applicable to your situation, but I've not had good luck with attorneys who claim to be hot shots in this field....

In my opinion, MagMoss isn't worth the paper it's printed on....

But to say that your wheels voided the ABS warranty is pure BS...

The sad fact is that Django is right. The M-M Act states that the manufacture has the proof of burden in proving that the modification caused the failure. Problem is that they deny it, and then it's up to you to proof otherwise.

Another example of your government looking out for you.
 
Just a thought. Make them put it in writing as to why the wheels caused the failure. This sometimes makes them think about what they are doing. If it's in writing they have to defend it in court.

That is amazing, they really feel the need to act like that. What ever happened to making customers happy? It's everywhere you look anymore and it's a real shame.

I've run into this with my M3 and my Cayenne. Unless the dealer can prove that something happened to your ABS sensor or wiring to the brakes from your new wheels, than they're stuck with fixing it. Also, if you have certain kinds of wheels like Gemballa, HRE, Hamann, RUF, Porsche offers those manufacturers wheels as an order item so they should not void any warranty even if YOU put them on your GT2, as an aftermarket item. Long story short, I had the Dinan stage 2 package thrown on my M3 when I lived out in Cali a few years ago and my ABS light came on. Took it to my dealer and they said, no go, cuz they were aftermarket Dinan Wheels.....duh. I called the area BMW rep and he said that Dinan was and is a factory authorized BMW tuner so it didn't matter if i had an air freshener or wheels from them, it was covered. Same with my Cayenne, I upgraded the wheels to factory 20" turbo wheels and tires...a week later the tire pressure monitoring system went tits up. Took it the dealer, not the one I bought them from cuz it was a long ass drive, (ebay sale) and they said it was beacuse of the new wheels and i was SOL. I had to call the dealer I bought them from and get the Porsche area Rep involved, but it was fixed under warranty. Sorry for the long post, but that chaps my ass when you spend $100K+ on a car and they try to nickel and dime ya on it.
 
That probably means if you ever get a check engine light in your SRT you better put that wing back on before the service writer sees you without it.

LMAO!!! Good one Anthony!!! Seriously, Mike I would follow Silverback's suggestiopn of asking them to put it in writing. That night just make them think twice about how stupid they're being.

Good advice...they are HRE's as brokered by the porsche salesman who sold me the car....

Talked to my tuner ....if they deny the work he said not to blow a gasket go pick up the car...we will put the stock wheels back on and go to another dealer.....that is as long as they don't red flag the car in the computer....
 
I looked for the sticky on the other site but couldn't find it. Maybe you should switch your wheels before you go in the first time so they don't red flag it.

Already there.....had I known that they would raise shit for a rim........would have switched out.....

$100k+ car and they give you shit about aftermarket wheels? Unfrickenbeliveable!!!

I hope the next dealer is not an idiot and thank God you have another one to go to!
