Well, I found out the hard way that my factory warranty is up, and extended one that they sold me isn't all that it's cracked up to be!

Went to have my oil changed, and while it was there have a leak in the read looked at. I thought it was the brake line leaking, but wondered why the fluid level never changed. Turns out it was the axle seal.

So, the service rep is reviewing my truck info on the dumputor, and says, "Well, your warranty is expired". To which I replied, "Impossible, I bought a 7 year, 70K mile warranty". So, he shows me that by age, the factory warranty did indeed expire in January. (a fact that my dealer never pointed out) Then he says that since I am not at the dealership where I bought the oil change plan, I will have to pay the difference between what the plan covers and what the oil change costs. I said, "huh?"

Seems that the dealership in Florida where I bought the truck and the plan has been paying the difference between $35 and the actual cost of the service since day one! Fidelity only covers $35 of the oil change. Knowing this immediately pissed me off, then gave me a little bit of satisfaction.
I was pissed because that means that I have to pay the difference ($67), and satisfaction because it means that everytime I have taken it to get the oil changed the stealership has had to eat the difference! (Small victories!)

Anyway, Like I said, what I thought was a small leak in a brake line, turned out to be the seal on the driver's side of the axle. While they had it apart, I took a good look in the differential, and everything looks great, so that was cool! and it also means that for the $100 deductible, I got the fluids changed in the rear end!

All together it cost me $171.95 plus $17 for the insurance coverage on a rental vehicle that they provided me because the truck wasn't done when they said it would be.... could have been worse I suppose.

ummmm, I am pretty good at math so maybe you can help me here.

the trucks only came out in 2004, so if you bought the very first one off the line, then maybe that was a 2003 purchase

7 years is 2010

how can you possibly be out of warranty if you bought the 7/70 extended?

The extended warranty was not from the factory. It's from a company called Fidelity. After the factory warranty runs out, it's bumper to bumper, but carries a $100 deductible.
