Lately there has been a lot of rain in the afternoons around here....On Sunday I moved my truck during heavy rains and didn't notice anything....got back in about 30 min later and water was dripping from my pilar where it meets the roof carpet....I got back home took the pilar on the driver side off and checked for leaks...nothing... so i dried it, let it sit in the rain and came back to it a few hours later with the pilar still off and didn't see any leaks and the roof carpet was still dry, so I thought the door didn't seal all the way...
Rained yesterday afternoon for a little and nothing....
Now this morning i get in the truck and there was a puddle on my mat from the over night rains...Checked all around and even at the sunroof and couldn't notice anything...looked at the passenger side to see if there was something different from the drivers side...I didn't notice anything different...
I'm thinking that when I get home later I'm going to silicone the top of the windshield where it meets the truck and the weather stripping too...
Any precautions against this or has anyone had similar issue's and have a resolution??

might be the rain-x. :D
j/k

Hope you figure it out. You can always have someone run a hose over the different parts of the truck while your in it to see where it is coming from.

Lol I was thinking the rain-x curse too! It's weird b/c doesn't always do it...I think I'm going to remove the whole roof liner, depending on how hard it is and see if I can narrow it down :dontknow:

Do you hear any wind noise while going down the highway?

The reason I mentioned the hose was my neighbors Ranger had a leak that would soak the seat. He couldnt find where it was coming from. Siliconed up around the window (looks like crap and molds eventually) and it still leaked. Within 5 minutes of him outside with the hose, and me inside the truck, I found the leak.

No noise it's pretty quiet....
I felt around above the roof carpet when I had the pilar off and I couldn't find any trail of where water was coming from and I notice it only accumulates in that one spot..

If it is coming in at the windshield, I would go to a glass place and see if they can re-seat the glass :dontknow:

Bingo. Beat me to it. Happens all the time here at the dealer. Open the sunroof and and poor water down the drains and then look under the car to make sue they're draining good. But, it sounds like the drain hose is leaking. Should be easy to dignose and fix.:)

I talked to my tech and he said that typically its the sunroof seal or the drains in the sunroof are clogged due to leaves and other debris accumilating in it.

If you check the roof drains and still can't find the prob, remove the headliner and pillar covers. Cover you seats, and put baby powder around everywhere you think it might leak. After it rains, you will see a trail where the powder was. Good luck.

Thanks guys I'm gonna check the sunroof. Is it easy to see the drain tubes so I can poor water in to watch if it drains.
Yea stink I hate those damn rain gremlins trying to sabotage me:D

Is it even normal for water to get past the sunroof seal? Just wondering why the water would be going to the drain with the roof closed.

Completely normal. All sunroofs leak, that's why they have drains front and rear. Open the sunroof and look in both front corners. You should see a small hole in each corner. See if there is a piece of leaf or something blocking the holes. If not, pour some water down the hole and then look under the truck to see if its draining. If you come down my way, I'll be glad to look at it or have one of my techs look at it. You know I got you brother.:)

Cool. I'm going to do a test tomorrow to see. I just opened it and there is nothing I can see just by looking but maybe inside there is something stuck or a broken drain line. If it's broken how hard is it to fix? Right now I think that the only logical thing causing this.

On every vehicle Ive owned with a sunroof its leaked and everyone was due to drain hose coming disconnected. I don't do sunroofs anymore.

leak

My truck has the same problem!!! But i don't have a sunroof!!! Dosen't leak all the time just once in a while.

All my cars have had sunroof's and this is the first one I've ever had a leak develop with.....
I poured water into the drain hole on the driver side and it took the first little bit of water but then it built up a little...About 45-60 seconds later the water started to slowly drip from the bottom by the door...
I'm assuming the drain is a little clogged up but how in the hell am I suppose to find where its clogged and clean it since it's all inside the truck???

If you can get to it, try compressed air, from either end. Or maybe you can chase it with something semi-flexible such as a thick weed whacker line or soft wire. Good luck
