Water leaking into cab

I hosed my truck off this evening before going for a drive and when I got in to leave water was leaking in from several locations. It was dripping around the corners of the sunroof (water coming through the headliner). Water was coming in through the screw cover on the driver's grab handle near the oil temp gauge. I'm not talking about a small amount of water--it was freakin' pouring in over the top of the gauge and also coming out below where the kick panel meets the carpet. The water coming out near the sunroof dripped down onto the front of the seat and also onto the seat back. When I drove the truck water was dripping out at the seam below the digital display above the rear view mirror. Has anyone else had a similar problem. I looked at the sunroof from the outside and it seems like there's a gap at the rear of the sunroof where it meets the metal roof of the truck. How tight is this area on everyone else's trucks? The gap seems like it's much tighter in the front of the sunroof, than at the back. I've only had the truck for about two weeks. Oh, and yes, all of the windows and the sunroof were closed all of the way before I hosed it off.

Sounds like warranty work...

and make sure that they clean it good so that it doesn't collect mold.

Sorry about that....

Thanks everyone for the replies. I stopped into the dealership today and they are gonna work on the sun roof tomorrow at 9:00am. The service rep said that it wasn't shutting all of the way due to needing adjustment or the closing mechanism being out of sync. This will be the truck's 2nd trip to the dealer in less than 2 weeks (first visit for leaking oil cooler line). Oh, BTW, now my Pioneer nav system (AVIC-Z2) quit working today. Probably from the exposure to the moisture (?), it's worked flawlessly up to this point. I doubt the dealer will pay for a new unit though because it isn't the factory system, but I'm going to mention it to them--we'll see...:(

Small issues, you will be up and running in no time!!

Thank you GriMacE for posting the sun roof service manual info. That was really cool of you to take the time to post that for me--I appreciate it!

Yeah, I know these are relatively small issues, and they will get resolved. They are just a little frustrating to have to screw with. The truck is at the dealership right now and hopefully they will finish with it today so I can go pick it up. I'll let everyone know what the problem was in case it happens to someone else. Thanks again

Make sure they check the drain tubes

Well, I picked up the truck this afternoon. It seems like the sun roof is adjusted correctly now. They also said that they had to recalibrate the sun roof module and that there was a TSB about it for the 06 QC's. The service rep said that it only applies if your sun roof is not sealing or shutting correctly at the rear of the roof.

The work order receipt says: "Used TSB and 23-040-06 and calibrated sun roof module then adjusted for proper fit. Then performed flash update of SCM module and worked back and forth 7 times to return to customer OP mode."

I'm glad this got fixed today because it started raining and hailing this evening. So I guess I'll check for evidence of leaks in the morning.

I hope this info helps if anyone does a search in the future for a similar problem.

Yah, the dealer took good care of me (Lithia Dodge in Eureka) so let's give credit where credit is due. The sun roof seems to be sealing correctly now--no leaks! As for the nav system, it started working again. I went on the Pioneer website where I found out that my nav system has a software update available that fixes a screen freeze up or lock up condition when the unit is in a hot environment. The day after the sun roof leaked I left the truck in the sun with the window closed up so it would get hot inside and dry everything out. I guess this is what caused the nav system to freeze up (ironically). I'm still workin' on getting the software update to fix that problem.

You left the windows up in the hot sun to dry it out? Sure hope you left the sunroof open otherwise all you're doing is making mold!!!

Mine was leaking out the screwhole plugs in the A pillar and I cleaned out the drain tubes. All kinds of stuff came out. I hope that fixed it but it hasn't rained hard since. That has been a source of lots of leaks. I'll keep that TSB in mind in case it leaks again.
