Can anybody explain the pros & cons of water/meth injection? Is it only effective on turbo/supercharged vehicles?

I know that it helps maintain a higher octane and can help keep you engine cleaner, but this is all just word of mouth...Any info would be great, Thanks Guys!

Its not really needed until you add a power adder, the benefits on a naturally aspirated motor would be minimal at best.

if you need meth injection due to detonation problems, then really what you need it race gas (or higher octane gas) as meth injection is really a bandaid fix.

meth and gas burn at 2 different a/f ratios so tuning is done "by ear" instead of with a wideband o2 sensor when you add meth to gas. Usually, a tuner will tune gas only or with race gas to get the tune dialed in. then switch to pump gas and that's when you get the detonation. then you add meth until the pinging is gone.

in my opinion, it's best to use an additive like torco to fix the detonation with pump gas. That way the entire tank is treated and there is no chance of a bandaid fix to malfunction causing your motor to possibly damage itself. With headers and loud mufflers it's almost impossible to know when detonation is happening.

hope this helps!

Thanks alot man!! You have definately sumed it up for me:D

it is intended to be a "combustion coolant" for use in conjunction with nos, forcedinduction, high compression applications

it also is used as a "pseudo" intercooler on a Roe. it cooled the intake down dramatically on my Roe Viper

yep, btw about how much did you go thru?

hahaha....not to say i got on the car alot, but in 7 months i went thru 11 gallons of methanol....which is what most guy do in about 4 years. thats 22 gallons mixed...for most guys the 2.5 gallon jug last them the whole summer:D

ps...i did have my check valve go bad on me and went thru 5 gallons 50/50 in about a week till i got it fixed

Another bonus, I checked my plugs the other day and they are perfect. not lean not fat............ look like they just came out of the washing machine.

you need to call roe racing and talk to sean. i talked to him last week on this same issue.

Think of Meth as a power keeper and not a power adder. It lowers the intake temp which is like the difference of driving on a cold day Vs. hot day. Where as NOS is a power adder. Not much to gain on a NA engine and you need to tune for it as you don't want the meth spraying all the time. You can have a trigger switch that turns it on during WOT but you still need a tune for it (SCT as an example). Roe has a kit that will allow you to use their meth kit with the SCT.
