I have the VIS Racing Sports hood, I found on Ebay and it fits great (paid $720) I also got the Platinum Fenders (fiberglass) from the same outlet but they are not made by VIS, they are a very difficult fit, you will need an experienced body man to make them work. They sell for about $250-320 per pair, but require lots of work to fit. No one could tell me the weight difference before I ordered so I was expecting a lot of weight loss, needless to say I was disappointed.....the hood saves 14 lbs and the fenders save 7 lbs each...so 28 lbs total.

Dang...I thought the CF hood alone would save 50lbs....aint worth it for 14....glad you posted that..

Quit picking on a poor old 64 year old grampa...and as far as secrets not being nice.....read your own DISCLAIMER....just kidding buddy, why don't you shave those calipers in the rear and go with the M&H 12.00 X 16 Nostalgia slick, according to FATJACK they work great:burnout:

I should have said it added 500 lbs and then no one else would try to save weight so I could be the lightest:D
 
So what, this fat lady still blows away everyone on the highway.
 
what kind of scale did you use? and do you have the front and rear axle weights, mine was 4920 with everything including the spare and about 1/4 tank of fuel. 2680lbs on the front axle and 2240lbs on the rear.
 
I'm going to replace my front sway bar with a 2" one . Guess I'm adding weight. But I do like the twisties.

The smaller scale at a recycling outlet. No breakdown between front and rear.
 
So I take it we get no inside scoop on your reduction secrets? What can be removed without compromising the truck?

No real secrets, just common sense ideas. I have posted on here several times what the reductions saved. Both front and rear bumpers have quite a bit of metal removed. I had the interior seat bracket modified (cut) so I could unbolt the passenger seat (just 4 bolts) saving 47.5 lbs, 2 screws and unplug the wire is all that holds the big subwoofer behind the seat (14 lbs), 3 small screws and the 10.5 lb package tray is out. I remove floor mats. I removed the windshield washer fluid bottle (8-14 lbs with fluid), and we removed the trailer tow bar brace from between the frame rails along with the spare tire holder. The factory plastic bedliner was 45 lbs, I now have a thin spray in liner. I remove the tailgate (60 lbs) and aftermarket bedcover (120 lbs), the M&H 390-40-17 drag radials and 17x10 wheels save 50 lbs over the stock rear tires and wheels. I have Bogart Racing 18x7 front wheels and 225-55-18 tires that save another 63 lbs over stock. I usually try to run with 1/4 tank of fuel. I put everything back in the next day so the truck is as stock to drive everyday.
 
Update: weighed the truck in race ready status (before my new weight reduction mod) and it weighed 4460 lbs with 1/4 tank of fuel. I have had a set of lightweight doors made from a stock 2003 Ram, completely gutted (no window mechanism, door handle, door panel, or mirror) and fitted with a Lexan window locked in the up position. I also have the cloth drivers side bucket seat (nonpower). I switched everything out for the Test and Tune friday and my new race weight (withou me) is 4290 lbs. I saved 170 lbs and lowered my best corrected time by .259 seconds. I used corrected to get a more accurate comparison because of the DA quality. I was pleased. I will switch everything back to stock on Monday. I will go for a new NA record this fall.

Thanks....I think I've even lost about 5 lbs this week as I started a new diet on Wednsday:rock:
