i know the qc r heavy. not gonna do extreme mods to save the extra weight for the track.. was just wondering if anybody knows how much the tailgate, tonneau cover w/ wing (from dodge) and spare tire would save me on weight. im guessing at least 100lbs ( i know the spare tire is at least 35lbs from having flat tires on this truck mayb more just from lifting it).

Seems like the bed cover weighs about 75LBs........Trainman might know the weights..he stripped his truck to get his low times..

If your going to strip it for the track or just want to shave weight start from the front.

Less weight=Less traction;)

have slicks on reserve ;) lol, i was thinking about that though as well, if no1 has a good answer, ill do some tests when im gonna race it in jan. ill do some b4 and after runs and post results

besides, i dont think 100lbs in the QC (which weighs i believe on the better side of 5000lbs.) would make a difference lol:burnout: :burnout:

You have to remember that every LB you add for traction in that first 50-100 ft has to be carried another 1200'+.....losing weight=lower ETs...that is why Trainman ran low 12s on a mostly stock engine........adding weight in the back is only good for traction in snow..and lowering rears..;)

You saw my thread.....:D

I lowered the rear 2 inches (leveling the truck) leave the tailgate open (down) and it aids in getting more weight on the rear without adding weight.

My aftermarket cover and wing weigh around 300lbs. :mad:

I usually race on a full-ish tank and a big breakfast, while sipping a soda... Then I'll hit Home Depot on the way home...:dontknow:

I'm still kicking a few stock vettes asses!!!:rock::rock::rock::pNOT Z06...:(:marchmellow:

spare tire is more like 80lbs not 35:D

lol i guess im stronger than i think :viking: :viking: :viking:

add a full tilt-up fiberglass front end---hey yes, stinker are you going to make those too ----while your at it a complete fiberglass body... damn tail gates are heavier than most...

Weight

I tried removing the spare, the tonneau & the tail gate one at a time, approx 300lb weight reduction and ran about 2 tenths slower even with only 20 lbs of air in the rear tires and no front sway bar. My 60 ft times were terrible and no matter what rpm I left at it was like driving in the rain. With drag radials & a traction device you may see a difference. It's a 3 ton truck not a 2000 lb race car.

yes i agree my truck is mostly stock also , and when i took the bed cocer off to get liner sprayed, i could not get a good bite at all , thing would get very squirely !!.. never been to track so dont know what time difference it would make .... just my .02 :D

if ya cant launch ya cant get low ETs....still go back to Trainman...he striipped off every LB he could find and turned a 1.65 60' with street tires.....less weight will actually help you launch faster if you can launch correctly...
