Ok guys thinking of taking off my Tonneau Cover for reducing weight and better Acceleration. Will this help at all on Qc's How much do you think the Tonneau cover weighs?

i got a RC and I thought for sure if I took it off I'd run faster in the 1/4 and there was zero change in times...didn't go up or down. I think mine weighs 150 lbs.

Most of them don't weigh alot, 150 lbs maybe!! Thats like the diff between a 1/4 tank and full tank of fuel!!

Plus I believe there may be a little aero dynamic plus!!:dontknow:

Wieght is more of a factor on a grade. There s lots of calculators out there where you can plug in different grades 2% 4% etc, and you can see the powers required. On a flat aero rules.

Guys...taking weight off a 2600lb pro street nova makes a difference...

taking 100 lbs off a 5200-5900lb truck means zero....

more importantly taking weight off the back of the truck is a mistake....I pulled a 1.65 60' with a bed cover, tailgate and spare tire...

If you can pull weight off the front to help weight transfer that would be different....

Just take of evereythig and send it to Aero Chem, they can Acid mill away i/2 the wieght, they are in El Mirage near my place:D

Yup. Relocate the battery, for starters.

Oh, and, anyone want a mediocre-looking carbon fiber hood to help with that?:p

did you buy that VIS one?....

Yeah if you wanted to be really serious about it you could put a new hood on and take off the front fascia replace it with an aftermarket Carbon Fiber one.

Nowwhat said it right, you can't take enough weight off these trucks to make a difference.. face it, we are heavy beasts.

I did that and now notice a strange flute like whistle going down the road.

Justin makes a great battery relocate kit. Had him install it a couple weeks ago. Looks comletely sano!!! Great Design.

most of the weight is the frame. our trucks are built on diesel 2500 frames(04-05), 3500(06).

1500 (04-05, 06RC), 2500 (06 QC)

is what i thought. :dontknow:

our trucks are 2500 frames, and noses. they originally built it from a 6 cylinder base model and fitted everything from a 2500 but the front frame was not right. they used the 2500 cause the cummins is almost the same width and length as the viper engine. there are pics out there of the prototype as they built it. it was black with a blue nose and it was a 03 1500. it also had 8 lug wheels at first. the front barkes are off of a 01 2500 hd on the 04's.
