That doesn't look too hateful for somebody just starting. What do you have your amps set at? Try setting it at about 120. Are you using an armrest? Just get some blocks of 2x4 to use. It will help you keep steady, and will help you flow the bead better...and keep it straight. It looks like your burning in a little too deep, mostly on the first pic, just use more rod to fill those areas back in. The armrest will help you there.

LOLOL yup burnt way too hot on the join:D

got it at 100 actually, and that is def one of the adjustments, i think I am trying to watch too much at one time, the foot control, amps , filler, but I will get a couple blocks and try some mo:D

thanks:D

There are different preferences for the amps. I like to go with a little more than I need, and then use the pedal to control it. One of the hardest things to get used to when just starting is not touching the rod to the tungsten. I still do it.

You may also have better results if you grind all the scale and rust off were your gonna weld. With tig welding everything needs to be cleaner than with other procedures. But all in all it looks like a great start.
Do you have any good burns yet?:D

k will bump it up a bit, but now too, the lower part is 1/16th and the upper 1/8th tho, :)

Focus most of the arc on the thicker material, and flow it into the thinner stuff. You'll get the hang of it.:D

bite me! my fingers look like a french tickler:D

gimme ten, gonna give another quick shot at some, then I got to do some dang paper work:aetsch:

Get smaller rod too for the thinner materials, and as said everything must be clean, it's critical on aluminum

most def will Justin thanks , they gave me a ten lb box of 1/16th for aluminum, but havent opened it yet

but these are the last 4 passes.

the lower one onthe left, well , burnt my ars so stopped early:p

the lower on the right, nailed the pedal jsut to see at 120amps and it burnt too deep, am I guessing right?

the upper two I tried to do pretty good, whatcha think?

The top left is what you are looking for.:top: Just clean up the end of it, you can do that without using anymore rod. It looks like you are holding the torch in your right hand...going right to left? Try it going the other way.

Looks pretty darn good for your first few tries! Try pulling the bead instead of pushing and see what you think.

Oh yeah, make sure you wear a good long sleeve shirt...if you lean on the item being welded with bare skin and you accidentally touch the tungsten to metal, you'll get a nice shock....ask me how I know this!:D :D :D

Do like i did ,,,get real good and sweaty ,,then lean on it ,,,good thing is its a smart test ,,,if you do it twice your not to smart:D
