I thought I would give some feedback on the SRT experience that I went to today. It was extremely well organized. They had five different modules as they call it. Advanced car control, Autocross, Full Throttle Challenge, Performance Drive, and Hot Laps. They removed drifting from the program. I was bummed about this but hey it was all free.

We started with autocross. Everything was going well until I...... well lets say that I was near the end of people to go out. Until I had gone out everyone was doing really well and no one hit any cones until I went out. The ESP on the JEEP kicked my ass. It was off then it on. Your flooring the gas and it doesn't move then all of a sudden it goes and then at that point your running over cones. I wanted to turn off the ESP but that is a big no no. Well I started a trend. The next few people after me ended up taking out cones also. But It wasn't until I started it. This exercise was for a small trophy to the team that had the best times. We came in third or last.

Next was the full throttle. A 1/16th mile rag race with a full tree running street light setup. I actually ran this pretty good. I was running .1XX reaction times for the most part. Then I got in .048 .053 .078 I had some .1XX mixed in there also. Then I told this guy what I was doing. He then ended up running a .008 . I was bummed. Then the very next run I pulled out a .005 According to the instructor I am one of four people this year to run a .005 two were pro drag racers and the other was a cop. I ended up winning the drag races and had the best reaction time of the day. As far as the vehicles go. The Jeep is the bad ass. That thing is insane. If I could afford another vehicle it would be sitting next to the Ram.

Next was the Performance drive. This was what I was looking forward to the most. I know the track from racing motorcycles so with that in mind I had no real concerns. Basically you keep switches cars as the go around track. Two laps and then they come in for a switch. I noticed that different instructors had different lines. Some drove the track aggressively then others were a bit pokey. I was trying to push a couple of instructors to pick up the pace with out getting to close to him. They want you to leave about three cars between you and the next car. But it really didn't happen. This was the only dis appointment of the day for me. The pace was too slow.

Next was advanced car control. Basically you go out in a 08 viper and the 06 viper around a smaller course. This was fun. Nothing like ripping into someone else’s tires. Pitching the car sideways or really sideways for most. So sideways that allot of people went sideways three or four times without ever changing direction. I will say that the pedals in the viper are very close to each other.

Now was the hot laps. This is were you go out with one of the instructors on the big track. Two laps in any car. I waited for the Viper. That thing was awesome. You can tell that it is a car that can get away from you easily if your not careful.

The Jeep is awesome. If I was going to buy any SRT-8 the jeep is the first.

Forgot to mention that there is going to be a DVD of the performance portion of me driving and a view of the track ahead coming in the mail. Part of the package.

I didnt know they are still doing that...I wish I could go to one of those. It sounds like tons of fun!:)

Whats involved to do that? Sounds like a blast for sure. Do you just need a SRT and pay to get in or how does it work?

It is free to SRT owners that bought their vehicles after April XX, 2005....but you have to use it within a year or loose it....otherwise it costs $500. Buyers of used SRTs should check to see if they qualify. If the original owner did not use it you can. I went (my 3rd time) on the used truck I have now.

If anyone has not used their free pass shoot me a PM. I know people who will buy your ticket.

shame the Ram is no longer a SRT vehicle. it was amazin to drive & be driven in one of our trucks. for a big beast it does very well on the twisty bits:rock:

The event was held a thunderhill racetrack in Willows California. It close to Chico, Ca.

If you buy a new Jeep you get two passes. One for you and a guest.

Thats cool. They didn't mention any SRT they said the Jeep. But either way. If I had the money to buy a jeep I would be all over it.

On a side note I did win a Ride along at a Richard Petty event. If anyone is interested in it shoot me a pm. They are not going to be close enough for me to use it. It is a $99.00 value. First person to contribute $25.00 to the forum so I can have access to the do it yourself section can have it. You can check the dates at www.1800bepetty.com

The Jeeps stir up more interest than any vehicle at the SRT event....I was at the 1st event that had the jeep back in May 2006....I had the Charger and almost traded for the Jeep...in fact the Jeep was the catlyst that caused me to end up with the SRT10...a satistfying decision on my part...

The Ride along is a three lap ride in a two seater nascar. They said speeds will be around 175 mph.
