I was liked by everyone, I think, but not necessarily "popular". My locker was in prime real-estate in the main hall, had electricity (one outlet and a red lightbulb - we popped a hole thru the wall into a utility closet and ran an ext cord). I ended up sharing it with two friends who begged me til I broke. I drove a motorcycle my last two years, and I always sat in the very back seat of the bus when I rode it.
My friend always brought to school this custom made boom-box made out of a briefcase, car stereo, amplifier, motorcycle battery and a pair of 3-way big ass speakers. He would charge it up on the bus ride into school by tapping into the bus electrical system via the school-bus sign access at the back of the bus - just above the rear access. He rigged an adapter out of an automotive light bulb and just swapped it with one of the sign bulbs - swapped it back when we arrived. Same for on the way home.

Does any of that count?
