Guys,

I just purchased a Centerforce Cutch and a Fidanza Flywheel. but I was reading on the JMB website that I should add a Viper Hydraulic Upgrade. What are the benifits of the Viper Hydraulic upgrade? What does it do for me?:D

the stock throw out bearing/slave cyl. for our trucks is made of plastic. don't hold up well under extreme drivin. affects shiftin mostly:(

:rock::rock::rock:

THe stock M/S Cyl. Will keep you from the all mighty 2 to 3 rd gear shift! This upgrade is a must!!! I ahave the CF clutch and Viper up grade and love it! Def. worth the money.

What year viper cars are a direct replacement with a metal master cylinder and slave cylinder? I ordered a master cylinder and slave cylinder for my truck from a viper car, and it came with a plastic one. I was not happy.

never heard of a metal master cyl.

The Viper master moves more fluid due to a longer stroke and bigger bore. It is plastic too, but has a metal rod to the clutch whereas the truck is all plastic.
The slaves are identical other than the Viper having a metal mounting base with still a plastic collar that gets abused. The truck unit has plastic base and collar.
I currently run a truck slave with a Viper master and and extremely happy with my Centerforce!

Was that sarcasm JTS?

If not, then why so many praise this and it isnt so.

Reason im asking is because all my clutch stuff is from a gen 2 viper. I want the best if i ever replace something.

In 04 the slaves were made of plastic hence a bad design they leaked misserably
If you go back in the history you will see clutches went out in 5000 miles on some
So the upgrade was to use the viper slave where the hyraulic area was cast into the slave thus holding the pressure

Since then tho dodge has upgraded both slaves to a cast design so they hold the hydraulic pressure better so no real use for the upgrade

The viper slave is .250 shorter than the one for the trucks so u have to space it plus the master is the same bore so no real advantage there but the stroke is longer so u have to space it from the firewall what u end up with is your pedal in an unsatisactory position

Most say there is still advantages but if you pull both an look at them an install enough you will find there is no difference in the two since dodge took care of the problem

Take the info for what its worth

so your sayin if i order a slave from dodge fo my 04 it should be a cast alum. slave now?

I can't tell you from actually having all these units in my hand and ordering from Dodge that they still sell the truck slave and it is still plastic! There is definitely have different bores and stroke length on the Masters and the slaves were identical in throw, diameter and throwing bearing size. The ONLY diff in slaves was the cast housing and fitting for hydraulic lines which I took care of.

I upgraded back in '06. Just recently the clutch master cylinder went out. Then, oddly the slave cylinder failed at the same time. The only confusion was getting the replacement parts because my vin number stated I needed the OEM truck parts and not what was present on her. Well, I replaced master and slave with Viper parts again. The clutch was installed with a new tranny in November and th JTSVP shifter ties it all together to feel tight like a new 10. :dontknow:I can't stop looking at and talking about the new shifter though.

Advantage of the up grade

Stinker,

I'm a little confused. I have an 2006 RAM SRT-10. Will my truck have the dodge upgrade.

tony u told me before there was no improvement by going with the viper parts, now thanks for explaing why. in more detail.

my first slave went out at 25k miles...

i replaced it with oem and it went out at 95k miles...they definitely changed something;) so i went with all oem again...master and slave...

should've lasted 100K plus though don't you think? i've never had to replace a master or slave on any other truck i've had before and i'm on my 4th master on this truck and it only has 35k miles. Do the viper cars have any trouble with masters/slaves? i've been holding off installing my spec stage 3 clutch waiting to see if anything else comes out for our master/slaves

Myth Buster!!!!!!!!!

OK guys and gals, here is the real deal difference between the two master cylinders. Bore and stroke are both increased on the Viper unit versus the factory truck unit. Fittings are also different on the quick disconnect so the two cannot be interchanged without accompanying slave cylinder, unless some hose fabbing is done;)

I'm well past 100K miles and still on original OEM. I do however replace the fluid in the resv at every oil change and flush a few times a year.
