What type of HP would you be looking at with this?
I dunno, id say anywhere from 340 & up at the wheels. Its running 9lbs of boost. And its a california daily driver, passes all tests, must be done right :aetsch:

340 at the wheels is a stretch.. stock R/T only has about 190 at the wheels, and with only 9psi of boost, you are talking 75hp increase just to the crank. 10 psi is as high as you can go with out watching your head gaskets fall out.

Problem.. 46RE Tranny is garrrrbage.. it's gonna need a little work to handle the power you are about to put through it. I just lost my 2000 R/T. Great truck.

I think your right sir, i had a 2000 R/T, tranny isnt very efficient...this truck also has a shift kit in it. Id prolly bore the 360 out, forge & cam it.

Jack thats the nicest thing you've said to me in a long time!:itsme:

So seriously guys, what do you think of that deal on autotrader?

Dont waste time with a bore. 408 stroker kit and a cam is the way to go. Grab a 5 speed outta a 95/96 Dakota (or a tremec if you got the cash)... Golden like a shower. With that Vortech thats already on there, :burnout: !!

I'd spend the money on it. But, I am a little biased, I have always worked on Dakotas. I'd buy it. Good price for a clean truck.

Normally I'd say not mess with a modified vehicle that you didn't modify yourself. You never know where the previous owner may have cut corners are abused the vehicle. In this case though, for $9K, you don't have much to lose. Plus you will kill off your debt which is always good.

The R/T looks like a good deal, if you are into that type of truck, and know it's issues and are willing to work them out.

By the way, what's an inexpensive bike? haha

My 97 SS/T I had with the small powerdyne supercharger made 315/495 to te rear wheels that was the initial transplant I put in my 85, now I'm running around 550-600hp now with the Paxton and other mods. My 46re has held up well for 4years and 7500km ( all track some street)

When I blew up the 727 in my 85 I was going to go with a 5 speed but I couldn't find a flywheel balenced for a 5.9L with the crank sensor tone ring.

Lots of options, the 5 speed would be awesome...ha and I'd also like to know what an inexpensive bike is. Looks like you guys still have some good info if I go this route. The Dakota r/t forum is no help at all...

Cody you already sold the Nismo??:dontknow: What are you up to? :)

Hey Cody,I had almost an identical blue 2000 Dak R/T ,but it was caged and had a fully built 408 stroker with a power dyne blower running 9lbs boost with NOS,it ran 11.08's at sea level. It was a fun truck!

With that many miles it's prolly about due for brakes, alternator, etc. Just be sure to check and make sure it's not gonna nickel and dime ya! Nice lookin truck from the pics!

Living without debt is a major philosophic change. Once there, the freedom is exhilarating.

You have probably already done it, but paying yourself rather than a finance company totals a huge amount of money over 20 or 30 years. I have paid for everything using savings for the past 40 years, other than mortgages (and tax law still allows deduction of that interest). The only hard part was making the decision you have made. Why pay someone else for your impulses? Live within your means...as you have decided to do...

The stress free life and the accumulation of wealth in lieu of paying someone else for your desire fulfillment is a huge change...congratulations!
