My wife's cousin is coming down from San Antonio today to visit. Has been wanting to race me since I bought the truck so he made it clear that we will run at the track or street. He drives an 04 Z06 with a borla exhaust and a flash/ chip. He hasn't dynoed the vette yet but he calculates about 415 rwhp not sure on the torque. My truck has the magnflow exhaust and the DC stage 2 flash. With the weight to hp ratio I know he should take me but by how much.:dontknow:
 
How good of a driver is he? I bet you stay pretty close up to 100 then aerodynamics will really start to slow you down. I say 3-4 lengths at the end of a 1/4.

A stock z06 will run low 12's all day....so he has you by a full second in the 1/4.....

Or at least mid-12's. One thing is for sure, on the street, his Run-Crap(run flat) tires won't hook real good either!

Though once he gets traction, assuming he can shift, IMO, he'll walk ya.
 
My buddy just flew to LA and bought an 04 z06..............he was telling me how surprised he was that it had THAT much power. I told him he was very fast now.....way faster than me.

Heh fastblack, just tell him you want to have the costco race........get there buy a bunch of shit and get home with it all!! LOL

I'm not sure that's true of an '04 Z06. The new Z06's are ones we should stay away form but the C5 Z06's should be a pretty decent drag race, no? After all, they're about the same as the C6 coupes (400 +/- HP), which I (spousal unit) have and I really think my truck will take it, although it would be a good race.
 
Sorry, but a fairly stock SRT-10 is not going to hang with a Z06, C5 or C6 form unless there is something wrong with the Corvette. Especially if the Z06 has a upgrade or two. We are just to damn big and heavy. Always fun to scare the regular C5 guys though....

As for your friend having 415RWHP with a C5 Z06 with an exhaust and chip, well that is BS. Tell him to get to a dyno and get his real number. A stock C5 Z06 is 405HP, which would be about 340RWHP using convential drive train loss. Add 50 RWHP max, and it is probably less, to the 340 number. He is surely under 400 RWHP. If I were you I would challenge him on the dyno, you will win and if he "thinks" he has 415 he may take you up on it.

my wife has a 05 c6 automatic and from a 15 mph roll , i get a half a car on her till 110 then she starts walking me. I have seen a few stock srt10 beat a 05 c6.. I raced a zo6 two weeks ago and when he hit second gear it was like his car launched a whole car length on me.

You have a good truck with some nice mods but I'll put my money on the vette. C5 Z06 or a standard C6.
 
There's been some good posts on this subject.................some a bit strange too.

But before anyone tells me to FO, I'll just say that I definately agree that his rwhp numbers are BS with a chip etc...... he's not making that much power to the tires....Unless he's at nearly 500hp at the crank.

And yes, the driver matters.... launch and shifts are critical.....

But all things being equal I think he has you based simply on power to weight. If I remember correctly all Vettes are still made of fiberglass. He has you in weight by about 1200 less pounds.......

In a 1/4 mile, I say the C5 Z06 wins..............sorry.
