What If: Fuel Cost Is $10.00 a gallon?

I just dropped my Duramax Dually at the dealer down the hill.

The place was a graveyard. There was one other vehicle in the service drive and it was there for warranty, as was mine.

Three years old and 22000 miles. I drove it 1800 miles in the last year.

I asked the salesman that was hanging out in the service drive, how many months it had been since the dealership sold a diesel, we laughed. He has worked there for 20 years and can't make a living.

Things are grinding to a halt in my neighborhood (SoCal).

Diesel is 5.22-6.09 locally. I am to the point wher if I am not towing I just drive the Ranger or the 10.

I get 10.5-11.5 in town and 15-16 on the road with the 10. I short shift it at 1400-1600 RPM and don't go over 75 on the freeways, it never sees 2000 RPM.

I am just going to put my head down and get on with life, finish building my hotrods and enjoy life..........

Just like the stock market...when stocks are low buy...sell when high...

So I have been looking at big diesels very closely...the prices are really enticing, but I bet they are going to drop a few thousand more before they hit bottom...

If you can squeeze it...now may very well be the time to buy the big rig that you have wanted for so long!

Good article....

Unfortunately, it falls on deaf ears. The system is so corrupt that change is almost impossible without revolution... Vote Ron Paul.

Excellent article. Calling a spade a spade and backing up the claims with clear data. If you have a "W" sticker in your car window or on your car bumper, then enjoy what his administration has done to our economy.

I am actually kinda bummed out. I bought this truck with the intentions of running her like she needs to be run. Now, I am happy when I am at 11.5 mpg and I am nursing her (not going over 2k rpms which is about 63mph highway in my truck). What a waste of a performance vehicle!

I remember back in the day, people would ask 'I am thinking about getting a 10 but what kind of mpg do they get' and the most common answer was 'if you are worried about gas then this truck is not for you'. Well that statement is more true today then it has ever been. :( :( I think it is pathetic that I avoid taking my truck over 2k rpms. Why did I buy this truck if I am not going to take advantage of its performance? It is kind of like truck abuse. :dontknow:

I am now looking for a DD to get me through Mon-Thurs so I can drive my truck the way I want to Fri-Sun.:burnout: :burnout:

Mr. W. will go down as the worst President in history! I hope this shows us that we can never elect a President that's in bed with Big Oil. When Bill Clinton was in office we paid $1.10 for gas at the beginning of his term and it rose to $1.40 after 8 years. Basically the rate of inflation. Now we have this dip shit in office and well you know where we sit now. At first I thought Bush would be good for the industry that I work in but all that has happened is, the top 5 percent of Big Oil company's got raises. No trickle affect:mad:

It makes me sick to go work for some of these big oil company's and listen to them complain about our prices. Which in fact haven't been raised in the last 10 years. I believe Big Oil is just conditioning us to believe that when it falls back to $3.00 a gallon that were getting a good deal.

It really bafflles me, how Diesel is HIGHER than Premium Gas... :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: It costs roughly HALF as much to produce!!!!

That's what I thought too. It takes a lot less refining than gasoline. The oil companies are just taking advantage of the working group that have to have it. Truckers, Ambulance & Fire trucks, School buses, Trash trucks and the list goes on & on right down to my work truck. They don't have the option of not making a trip.

If it's ever proven that George W is doing this to insure a very luxurious retirement then he should be court martialed for treason for putting our economy in this condition. If treason isn't the proper term, I'm sure we can find another reason or twenty.

It wouldn't help... Just look at the guy that takes his place for the remainder of his term.

If Sarbanes-Oxley reached the top executive of this country, President Bush would be in prison today. He does not live by the same rules as everyone else.
