What size speakers do you need to put in a QC aftermarket? 6.5" or 6x9"

I'm thinking about switching out the door speakers but I can not find a consistent answer...I have the QC and have been reading that the front speakers are 6.5" but then seen pics with 6x9" in the door, and then crutchfield says they are 5 1/4"? so what size are they really?

They are 6x9's in the front door. I put 6.5's in mine by creating an adapter.

Thanks...I'm gonna stay with 6x9" since they produce a nice sound and bass quality.....
