Correct..that is why I used 800 and even 600 on some pits / tar / etc...then went over with 1000, then polish. It looks better then the factory wheel and the inside was polished :D

Glad it worked well for you Sharp!!

I decided to clean the inside of rims today. It have the dirty spots on the inside of the rims too. I am going to try sandpaper it with the 600 and 800 grits then finish it with 2000 grits. I want to polish it too but how can I do it? Thanks.

geez. looks like you've picked up a cat. you can usually lure them off the wheel with some tuna or a shotgun.

To polish the inside is going to take A LOT of work..but if you have the time, you will be rewarded :)

Start off with a heavy sandpaper to get the machine lines out of the wheel (you might need a 200 or even more), then work your way up from there. When I polished my entire bike, I used roush compound (spell??) (black, then green, then white) to get it to a deep chrome finish.

So to summarize,

200 grit or less to get the machine marks out, then 600, then about 800, up to 2k, apply some good polish, and take pics!! A lot of time, and a lot of effort, but will look very nice if you can pull it off :)

Well, aren't you special ;) ;) :p :D

believe it or not i have used mr. clean the neon yellow stuff and it cleans rims like you wont believe!! i dont like using sand papper or steel wool on rims just rub really hard and dont mix the stuff with water untill you are ready to rinse.

i cleaned the inside of mine then painted them flat black. the paint protects the inner wheel and you never see that crap again...

My wheels were not clearcoated.
I used a Scotchbrite pad (green) and a bucket of SimpleGreen and water mixed. I scrubbed, with a light hand, in the direction of the machining.
When the wheels were clean (took a LONG time) and dry, I sprayed the scrubbed areas with WD-40, and wiped away any excess.

Save for some minor brake dust (and crappy tire shine), the wheels have remained clean since.
