Had a B&M...now have an X-Metal Gen IV...wouldnt give a dollar and a quarter for the difference between the two........both are much better than the stock Hurst..

The stock shifter in the silver truck worked well enough and I rarely missed a gear, power shifting.
I however do like the B&M shifter much better in the red truck. It feels much more positive and the gates are easier to find.
There was a difference in the way the two trucks shifted and felt. I liked the way the silver truck shifted over the red truck when stock.
I had a full on GForce tranny built for the red truck now and with all the things that went on I have never driven the red truck with the new trans to compare and see if there much difference.
If I am not happy with the way the GForce works I will put a Lenco in it and just be done.

Part of the shifter problem is the tranny. The Viper guys complain about the shifter, the Corvette guys complain about the shifter... I have basically the same tranny in three different rigs: The RC, an '02 Viper, and an '04 Cobra Saleen. The best shifter in the bunch is an MGW shifter and knob (after market) in the Saleen Cobra and it doesn't shift anywhere as nice as an old Ford toploader. My preference in the Viper is the stock linkage with an MGW short shift knob (I tried several).
Take those shifters and add inches for the truck and you're just magnifying the problems. They can make a better shifter but the gains in the aftermarket shifters I have tried for the truck don't justify their cost.

If you shift like a wuss there is no problem missing a gear.....
All I did was remove the rubber isolator in the stock shifter and it was fine.

I took the isolator out of my Viper and it helped. No extra noise or vibration. Maybe try it with the truck.

Mine did not unless the fasteners came loose. I fixed that with nylon locking nuts.

I think I am going to take my stock shifter and remove the rubber and weld the upper to the lower. I think that would help the stock ones a lot.
