What tires are you guys using for the track? I have a set of Nitto 555R in 305-45-18 but I want something better. What is the best set without having to shave the calipers?

your pretty much limited to those or the m&h's w/ the 17's...

If you want a real drag tire, you need to shave the calipers...

17" rim w/ out shaving on a 2004. I currently have the 325/45/17R from M&H which are 28" tall but I am running out of gear after adding Nitrous.....I will be upgrading to the 390/40/17's which are 2" taller and 2" wider. I'll be selling my 325/45/17's if your interested. If you have an 04 dropping to a 28" tire improves lowers the gear ratio considerably "for example when running on motor no NOS, I pass through the traps at 5300 RPM in 4th gear." On the stock rubber I was barely getting into 4th.

but if you plan on adding NOS, a turbo or SC you'll need at least a 30" tire!

I have 4.56 gears and a GTS 76 turbo and wanted some tires where I could cross the line at 5800-6000 rpm's. I put the gears in before the turbo and I did not want to go back to the stock gears since I did not ask for them back so I would have to buy new ones again plus the 4.56 gears only have about 400 miles on them.

I looked at the m&h 390-40-17 but was hoping there were other choices.

Well you first have to figure out if a 30" tire is tall enough....maybe take a run on the stock tires and see where you're at rpm wise in 4th and that'll give you an idea. I dont' know of any other choices for a big tire that goes on a 17". M&H makes a fine product....i'm very happy w/ mine. You may have to shave your calipers and go to a 16" wheel and a real slick:dontknow:

I calculate a diff of .76(3/4) of an inch between the 325-45-17 and the 390-40-17. 325/45/17 = 28.5 and the 390/40/17 = 29.28

How many runs have you put on your 325/45/17's?

hmmm i don't know about the dimensions....i was going off the basic stats listed on their website. The ones I have say 28" tall with an 88" circum.....the next ones up are 29.5" tall with a 92.7 circum. Nonetheless they'll be better than what I have now. I have about 18 passes on my current tires.....there is a little more than half the tread left on them.
