I have noticed that my wheels get black pretty quick too.

Last time I had that kind of problem it was because I had a cheap set of brake shoes on my old Toyota.

EBC/green pads. Front: $65-$70.00, the Rear: $75.00...e-bay.

Quick

p/s: and I just drove back from Fontana, about 67/miles from Santa Monica.... AND NO DUST! I cleaned them before I left, so I could see for myself if they worked.

I put Morse Ceramic pads on mine from AutoZone.
Made a HUGE difference!

I will add by saying that since going to the Friction "Apprentice" pads, my brake dust is down about 85% from the stock pads.
Squeaking is down too, but only by about 20%.

There HAS to be a better pad out there.
