My old XM radio is powered by 6V. My new one is 5V. Any problem with splicing into the old power cord that comes out of the box as 6V if the new one is only 5V? This is not just a power cord, it is a box that has 12V in to 6V out plus the Antenna in and out.

In my experience 1vdc difference would be a non issue. Your experience may vary :D

I know it is only 1 volt but that is like 20% more power then needed. I just don't want to fry my XM radio but I also don't want to buy a $75 car kit. Everything is done now except for the power which is not needed since I can charge it in the house. Just would be nice.

It won't work

There's always a bit of room with DC devices. The rectifiers (part that plugs into AC outlet) that come with thesetype products are not exactly accurate to begin with. Some manufactures give a range of acceptable Vdc. i.e. two of my Garmin products give 10 -24vdc as acceptable input voltages (found in the owners manual) while the unit itself states 12vdc.

Polarity is of a larger concern and even then most devices have internal protections if this occurs.
