i just got my srt-10 a week ago and i dont really know much about these trucks except there fast im just wondering whats the good and bad and what tends to break............thankz

Just read every technical post starting from day one .....

I mean.... Lordy.... How much time do you have to spend reading....?

They use alot of gas..... Power is less of an issue than traction.... especially in a regular cab (six-speed manual) it's about 425 rwhp in a 5500lb anvil of a truck.... in order to really boost power you should forge the bottom end or risk joining the Kablooey Klub.... The clutch hydraulics should be replaced in all regular cab models...it's cheap plastic dog shit.... any big power numbers on quad cabs require beefing up the auto tranny..... If you don't know how to launch and shift without breaking loose you'll never make a great 1/4 mile time in an RC ... Some guys with massive power numbers have never beaten 14 seconds..... and I'm running out of fkn air.....

D

i got the 04 rc 6-speed i like the qc but i like the look of the rc alot better looks more mean

Hey dont worry about reading the old posts.........................

use young pups like answering the same questions over and over again............... gets our post count up:)

Welcome. Yes there are alot of problems but that is an expected thing (taken me awhile to grasp this) I just fix it when it breaks and move on. I am willing to put up with this (as most other VTCOA members do) in order to frive a piece of bad arse.

Reoccurring issues with many including me....Tire life (stock Pir suck btw), Stock shifter sucks (B&M much better), Stock brake pads throw tons of dust and very aggressive to disks(several upgrades available), 6sp plastic hydr clutch parts wear/leak (upgrade to viper metal parts), oil water exchanger - oil lines are quick disconnect and prone to leaking over and over again. You'll hear many talk about the clutch plate burning up but I can assure you its the driver who doesn't know how to launch a 5K lb vehicle properly. (a little tongue in cheeky) I can say that as I have nearly 80K miles on my stock plate and still workies.

Issues with my high mileage SRT10...Did I mention tires? 6 sets so far....Yoko Prada been best so far, High pressure line from power steering pump (at pump) is also poor quality thus prone to leaking -replaced with aftermarket, Steering rack leaking - replaced with OEM, Rear output shaft on trans leak - easy repair/OEM replacement, rear diff clutch pack exploded - replaced with OEM, stock gas tank wouldn't take gas....started working as quick as it stopped. No idea what happened? This has occurred to several of us.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head....welcome!

Chuck, 6 sets of tires dude? You gotta drifting addiction? Powerslide every corner? LOL

Clutch hydrolics are what actually move the pressure plate when you push the clutch pedal in and out. Stock unit is plastic and melts with any hard launches. You would replace with the viper gts unit available from Roe Racing or JMB. Both are vendors on this site.

You have a great hot rod and other than a few items mentioned above, its very durable and loads of fun.

Welcome to the RBC dude
