I have read on this thread that under 1k 06's were produced. If, and I say if because I cannot believe its that low, the 06's would be the most rare type beside the VCA and yellow fever editions.
1. Weight difference is so small that it would not matter that much.
2. Gears certainly would affect speed off the line, but also affect top speed.
3. Colors changed for 06 - Gone is flame red, In is Inferno Red - The black is now a pearl coat.
4. Exterior body and frame type has changed.
5. Interior is all new, yes has heated seats and optional bluetooth technology.
6. 06 came standard with tonneau cover. Some 05' QC had them too but $1000 incentive given for those that did not.
7. I believe the bed of the 06 is from a 2500 series truck, not a 1500 like 04-05.
8. Gone are the SRT-10 badges (That I really like) especially on the interior near the glove compartment. I do like the new SRT10 series badges though.
9. Incompatible or retrofitted parts from 04-05. Say like Magnaflow CB that has to have additional hangers welded on since they dont line up.

I think Wizzy is talking about 1 of 37 because his is an 06' with the 04-05' paint color of black not the brilliant black pearl coat. I have seen his truck next to mine and they are different colors. His was made before the brilliant black pearl was made.

The nose of the 04-05's have a cool nascar look to them IMO. I like them alot. I just like the layout of the new interior better. I have a 04 QC and get to experience both interiors. Its bad enough I have the same steering wheel in both rigs. Wait.... My Durango has it too. 3 of the same steering wheels.... BANG!!!:dong:

Not to mention that mine is 1 of 17 Regular Cab SRT10's in Black for options, 6 disc in dash cd changer and polished wheels. David is right our trucks side by side there's a different look to his. Mine is just plain black his has like a green crystals or something. Both are beautiful trucks.

From my source the first 06's were Quad Cabs 5 total built before Regular Cabs. Not saying mine is the complete first RC but it's damn close.
My Source also told me they started building the 06 Model year Sept 1 of 2005. Mine being built Sept 7 2005 it should be very close to the first 2006 RC.
