I believe the stock wheel back spacing is 6.5 inches. I'm trying to use a 12 inch wide rim. If I'm doing the math correctly, I believe I could add 2 inches to the back spacing and barely clear the leaf springs. Is this correct?

I don't think it will work, I have 11 inch rims and have a little protrusion on the outside and some minor rubbing on the inside under full compression.

If you add an additional inch on the inside you will probabaly clear the leafs but will rub the well for sure. If you go 1/2 inch on either side it will stick out on the side and look funny. Mine stick out just a smidgeon at 11 inches.

I could be wrong though!!

I'm not to worried about the compression since I am running QA1's and airbags. The rear of the truck is pretty stiff. I am concerned with the potential rubbing on the wheel well. Does the spacing on the well differ from the QC to the RC?
