Wheel hope

Why would some have wheel hop and others have absolutely NO HOP?

I have done burnouts at the track and spun tires at WOT in all types of weather and mine simply has NOT HOPPED neither before nor after lowering.

Makes me wonder is something is not wrong with the trucks that hop:dontknow:

DUDE!!! Take it from someone who had a MAAAAAJOR wheel hop issue at the track, get the bars asap. Traction bars cost a lot less that the broken rear end I experienced thanks to wheel hop. The hopping was so violent, that it broke several teeth on the spider gears inside my posi.

No wheel hop at all, this after burning the piss out of the tires for 18,000 miles. My 04 Hemi truck would hop with the least bit of wheelspin.

Hop vs no hop. I'm thinking due to such a large disparity in answers that maybe some trucks have more or harder miles and consequently softer rear leafs. This could cause an increase in axle wrap which causes the dreaded wheel hop. How many miles on the trucks without wheel hop vs with wheel hop? Are they hard miles? I have 16K on my truck but am unsure of how hard the previous owner drove her (purchased with 14K miles).

Hop vs no Nop.....can be as simple as the surface traction....sticky vs slick.....put a truck on a sticky track with no bars and you can get both tires off the ground...

I don't think thats it. I think it's something to do with the vehicles.....Gateway Intl is one of the stickiest and best prepped tracks in the country. I have done everything from long nasty burnouts to short skips to clean off debris.

I spin 'em on the local asphalt of various types and qualities. Never had one ounce of hop.:dontknow:

How many miles on your RC? I'm assuming lots a track time will fall under "hard miles". Again, this only happens to me when its cold out and I "chase" the throttle. You know when you don’t quite floor it, you just kinda keep the pedal ahead of the rate of acceleration.

I only have 4000 miles. Been to the track 3 or 4 times. I am guessing maybe 15 to 20 passes total. :dontknow:

I agree Mike. The conditions have a lot to do with it.

I have been to the track and made 3 passes with no hop and then on the 4th run....skip....skip.....the temp the launch.....rpm.....tire psi.....get it all right and you can literally jump the truck....

Thanks for all the info guys. Again, I think the wheel hop also has a bit to do with the leafs breaking in a bit over time and loosening up. But I'll be picking up the Bars soon.
