Hello everybody ,

i'm Van de Walle Norbert from Belgium and use my name Belgiumbarry as on the C3VR forum . ( C3 from 1970.... )

I bought last year a black RC from 2004 ( nr 208 ) .

Now we want to put new rubbers but the wheels have a anti-theft nut and we do not find the key in the car.... Is this a factory installed item or a after-market one ? And will i be able to obtain such a key or should it be somewhere in the car ????

thanks for reactions !
Norbert

They are not factory installed. You will first have to find out who made them to get a key. They can be a real pain in the butt to get off without a key.

Welcome to the forum . I think you make about 3 we have from Belgium ,and to think some good friends who live there think my truck is insane and have told me there would be no way to get a truck like that over there . ROFLMAO guess they are wrong at least thre times .
I think the keyed wheel lock is factory . Where I found mine is under the amp in the lower center console. That one I was lucky on the spare lock I do not have a clue where they key is so it looks like either pick or cut . Another place to check is the jack tool bag under the pass seat .

Do as I did just put a 12 point socket over it and tap it on with a hammer. You dont have to put it on very far and if it slips just get another run. Make sure you tighten the other lug nuts to take the pressure off of the lock. Mine broke loose with minimal effort but you wont be able to save the nuts.

Thanks guys ! will do another surch in the car and if no key try hammer on a socket.... keep you posted ...

when i bought the car my granddaughter was about 22" :)

New rubbers are on ! Was easy with socket 22 hammering on to loosen those
special nuts. Can't fit now the plastic show covers anymore but will order 4 new normal wheel nuts.So again good for some miles....Had 16 k with the first tyres ... and still my driving license ! :)

Payed here for the Pirellis 185 euro so as i seen on Tyre Rack it's about the same for you guys but in $ .

Great outcome! Sounds as if the tires are more expensive in Europe than here, with the 1 to 1.313 conversion rate. Great to have you here...please continue to contribute and offer your opinions. The differences between our cultures are many (i.e. "rubbers" in the US are for safe sex!) but we want to learn. We love having people from distant places with us...and we will help anytime you need it.)

Truck Looks good and glad you got the wheel locks off .
How far are you from the brussels airport ???
