2005 reg cab here. Just a quick question. I was able to find a left over 2005 that was brand new, so now i have about 1300 miles on it. When is the engine broke in? I have been keeping it under about 4000 rpms to be safe. When can i start sending this thing near redline and feeling safe. I have had a few sports cars where it was around 1200 miles. Just curious about our great viper trucks and when they are ready to roar to redline.

All input is greatly appreciated

Mods: K&N Cold Air Intake installed with BB Triflo Catback and mids and also xmetal pcm upgrade and 172 Tstat on order and soon to be on my truck.

500 miles per the MFG...

Might be fun to get a baseline dyno :dontknow: All you have is the K&N on now?

Go have some fun...:D

ya all i have on is my k&N, But hey give me a break, i only have had my truck 3 weeks. I ordered my exhaust, and mids but it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get them from B&B. As for my pcm upgrade , just ordered one from gary over at xmetal, hoping to see it next week

Not meant to be "in ya" just wondered from the statement above what all you have on now. Getting past the baseline stage of things once the cat-back, pcm, ect. go on.
Just nice to see where your gains are as you improve. Have fun.

When we were at the SRT Experience it was an amazing difference from a tuned, mildly modded truck compared to a stocker.

Sorry for the confusion

hey trw,

Some members had their exhaust before the truck... :D

Will

Have you changed the oil? After the first 500-1000 miles I think it is a good idea.

ALL factory motors are pre broken in.....thats a quote from the dealer Svc manager at Arrigo Dodge...I dont know if I believe it but he sounded pretty sure.

The 500 mile break in is for the clutch...The engine is more or less broke in the day you drove it off the lot.

What are you waiting for? Let that big dog eat!!! :D

Yeah, well my dealer was pretty sure my truck held 11 qts of oil, too

I was going to do a oil change at 1500 miles, so in just a few days
