:hmmmm: For some reason last night I noticed something strange while on the move to my daughter's mother's place. To begin with #1900 started feeling as if she was giving a slight hesitation every now and then while the RPM's stayed steadily at around 2K. Soon after that began, the check engine light came on. I parked her when I got to my destination and turned in for the night. Then the heavy rains hit last night around 2 am. At 4:30 am I was on my way to work driving her easy like 40 on the freeway. When I got to the parking lot of my workplace I noticed the parked company vehicles (Ford Crown Victorias) had water passed their bumpers. Just when I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to leave her on the premises I find myself rolling straight into some high water. I found a patch of dry land and went for it. While there I thought I should just get her home. So I make my way back off the campus and headed for my house, calling my job at the same time. Well, I happened to run into what seemed a wall of water cascading over my hood. Since it was dark it was impossible to see it. I quickly changed lanes safely onto slow oncoming traffic (that sounds like a contradiction). That was close, but she stalled. I started her again and made a U-turn. Carefully I had to drive back to my daughter's mom's hitting semi high water at times, yet still pushing through. I made sure to keep on the gas so hinder any water flowing up into my exhaust. I got to a gas station and started pumping some petrol when I noticed the nozzle kept topping off real easy. Wasn't there supposed to be a little stainless steel flap located at the fuel tank access behind the gas cap? I ask because I don't seem to have one. I'm wondering if it broke off and now obstructs fuel flow when trying to fill up.:banghead: It took a long time to pump $15 bucks. It didn't occur to me until I later while I was at another gas station and the same topping off problem was happening, but with $30 bucks this time.... SHEESH!:motz:

So now she's resting. I managed to keep any water from entering the cab. So now I have to take her in for the funny stalling, the check engine light (could be both connected), :hmpf: the door rubber that has started the early stages of wearing from open and closing the doors, and last but not least, my horn sounds faint and funny. It must have been from the high water. Do you guys think any of that will be covered under warranty? This sucks because it’s the day before everyone gets here for the VTCoA meet. By the way, it’s supposed to rain all week around here. That’s definitely poor timing on Mother Nature’s part.

Is this the same rain that was on Fox News today - 10-inch rain storm?

Holy crapola, man!

Nice timing for the trip huh guys? Now I'm sort of glad I couldn't make it. I hate getting tossed out of hotel bars (or do I?) and it looks like that will be all there is to do down there LOL.

Yup, that be it! It's subsided already but Lord knows what's gonna happen if it rains heavily again. The ground is saturated and the air is humid (hindering the evaporation process). Blah, that sucks.

welcome to texas have to be very carefull around here when it rains heavy alll the low areas get flooded quick last bad flood a saw the sheriffs department fly down the feeder of beltway (major freeway) in air boats and we road around n my k5 on 38s pulling people out

VP good to hear your truck made it home o.k. I just realized I have a bolt sticking out of one of the rear tires. I noticed the back tire getting low so I moved the truck and this big ass bolt is sticking out of it.

I think you would have to worry more about water getting into your intake, rather than into your exhaust. Having wheeled the hell out of my old Jeep, There were many times when the tailpipe was submerged. The engine pushes enough air (esp with 505 V10) to keep most of the water from traveling too far. It just bubles to the top. I've also always had KN FIPK's on my trucks, and was always careful when I hit a huge puddle, I always lifted off the gas. I've heard of guys on DTW who damaged their motors because of this. Hydrolock I think its called. Be careful anyway, maybe its time to lift that sucker! ;)

I Hear Ya Bro..

:motz:Man I can't stand when that happens. Here it is we try and take care, n ot to drive them where we clearly see debris on the ground, and we still continue to pick up bolts, screws and nails.:hmpf: It's an on going battle dude. I hope it's not too bad and Discount down the block can patch it up.

man, i'll tell you the best thing i did in regards to tires is getting certificates on them at discount tire for about $48 per tire. i have had to put new tires on for bolts in them and all it cost me was $48. and that was to get a cert. on the new tire. well worth it

3.15AM In SoCal, how's the weather in Houston?

It's is 3.15AM in El Cajones and I am getting ready for the trip to Houston and I don't see any body up, for to give me a weather report.
Houston is going to take over from where Silverback lives as the "official forum festering shit hole" due to the dampness there lately.
I have to leave for the Airport in 1.5 hours and if it is rally bad there I don't want to make the trip for nothing.
Let me know guys I will check the puter in an hour.

Flight Delayed

My flight departure on Continental was set to leave at 6:15AM and has been rescheduled to 7:45AM so it will be 12:55PM when I arrive at Houston IAH

Venom.. Your slow to fill problem and sluggish feeling are probably interrelated.
Along with the Hi water sounds like your Evap canister purge or vent line may be full of water or debris
