Where did the car go?

Holy CRAP!!! :eek:

I had a driver up in MI that did that once. It was in a blizzard and he didn't see a little Geo Metro in front of him. The traffic started moving (he could see tail lights ahead of him, up the road) and he thought he was staying a fair distance away from them, moving slowly down I-94. Little did he know, he was pushing the little car for about 5 miles before he heard the little horn blowing over the sound of the wind. :eek: The lady wasn't hurt, but she was pretty shaken up. Her car stalled and wouldn't start, hence no tail lights. :eek: :D :D
 
That truck driver must be sleeping to not see that, damn!!!!!!
 
hmmm chicago...........winter.............gold little car.........yep did that one:D

sititing in traffic, lane broke down from 4 to 2, evidently the little car tried to squeeze in front of me, didnt see it , tried my normal gear to take off , truck didnt move, thought the trailor brakes had froze, so I dropped to granny, pushed the little car aobut 10 ft, then the car shot out from in front of me and hauled ass, havent seen it since, cost me a new dang bumper:D
but I bet he dont try to squeeze any big trucks these days:D

thats basically what happened to me. cept the truck driver was 5' and i bet he could not see a semi in front of him, lol.
edit: actually if you look at the photo you can see he is just barely over the top of the wheel.

believe me it does, you know how folks want to wait till the last minute to merge or beat a big truck to the end of an ending lane, well sometimes the very small cars get missed,
it can be avoided, I had let one car in, looked a couple times, and never saw this one, but I should have, too many mirrors not to, but it does happen, your watching the left and rigt constantly, but sometimes, some things get your attention on one side or the other, and some sneak in. its bad, but it happens

STAY AWAY from the bumper of a big truck in a snow storm! :dontknow: :eek: If you are in traffic, and in front of them the whole time, they WILL see you and this probably won't happen. Professional truck drivers are, for the most part, PROFESSIONALS. They drive in these conditions all the time, and you should feel vary safe around them.

...... But, don't do anything STUPID around them in inclement weather. A good example would be to slip in front of them when in traffic. The trucks are upwards of 80,000lbs when loaded. Your truck is 6000lbs. They can't stop as fast as you can. :itsme: And, they are watching traffic that is already in front of them, NOT a dumbass that slips in from the side. ;)

Now, I don't know about the driver in that video... there was clearly something up with that. :dontknow: But, the story Tony and I told DOES happen, and 99% of the time it's because of a 4-wheeler being an idiot. :aetsch:

i have three words for you swift, schneider, and werner.
believe me, they are far from professional, and can barely drive a car, let alone a truck.
in my industry you watch out for those (box jockeys). i sit in truck stops and watch them back into parking spots, and each other, its very entertaining to say the least. if they can make it in less then 10 trys, they are good, 20 trys, ok, 30 trys, and one hit, not bad, and if they blindside a truck and drive off? criminal.
 
Swift and Werner have some of the worst safety ratings in the industry. They hire drivers straight out of driving school. They also train drivers in the field. My company only hires seasoned drivers with impeccable records, as do many premier trucking companies.

There are also quite a few drivers for Swift and Schneider that have been there for a long time and are very good at what they do. But, these companies are HUGE and move a lot of freight. That gives them more of an opportunity to get in to trouble. There is good and bad with every company, especially big companies...
 
What gets me is that they can take the time to shoot the video but made no attempt to alert the truck driver of what was happening. Probably had to rush home to upload it to the internetz.

No seriously, I have before and would again try my darnedest to alert another driver of a bad situation. It's just the responsible thing to do.

Can you imagine how the occupants of the little car were feeling. I'll bet it stunk in there too.
